Ethnographic approach to participation in EU policy : developing polyspatial agency

This article uses an ethnographic approach to study citizens’ participation in the context of participatory practices organized in the framework of cultural policy of the European Union. It focuses on one EU policy action, European Heritage Label (EHL) and one cultural heritage site that has received this label. The research data was collected through participant observation and interviews with young people who participated in the activities organized on and by the site. This article asks: what meanings the participants give to participation. La tesi és un estudi semàntic diacrònic dels cinquanta zoònims llatins més productius de significats figurats o metasèmies; alhora constitueix una anàlisi motivacional de la creació de lèxic nou en general, i zoonímic en particular. Es constata que els zoònims constitueixen segurament el camp semàntic de més capacitat per a un ús figurat metafòric o metonímic. S'analitzen, doncs, les 16 derives semàntiques dels zoònims llatins, que per ordre de major freqüència a menor freqüència són les següents: noms de persona (antropònims), noms de plantes o fruits (fitònims), noms de caràcter, especialment insults i termes afectuosos (etònims), noms de lloc (topònims), noms d'animals procedents de noms…

Despite the difficulties of reconstructing the grammar of a dead language, studying Ancient Greek offers new insights for linguistic theory. The morphological complexity of the Greek verb with its highly intricate inflectional system provide a valuable basis for an in-depth-analysis of the mechanisms which regulate the functioning of a language. Studies on the Ancient Greek verb have also contributed significantly to the reconstruction of the Indo-European language since the early history of Linguistics in the nineteenth century. This presentation aims at discussing the opportunities and limitations of football players in East Germany, Hungary and Romania in the period between the end of World War II (1945) and the collapse of the Eastern bloc (1989). Football served as an important propaganda tool for the communist regimes in Eastern Europe. Therefore, the political elites supported football players financially with sinecures in the military, police, and in commercial and industrial companies, as well as by releasing them for training and competitions in their associated clubs.
