Celem niniejszego artykułu jestanaliza przyczyn korzystania w niewielkim stopniu przez mieszkańców Chorwacji z obywatelskiego prawa wyboru kandydatów do Parlamentu Europejskiego.Wybory z ostatnich lat pokazują jednak, że zainteresowanie obywateli nie jest zbyt duże. Społeczeństwo Chorwacji nigdy nie było nadmiernie euroentuzjastyczne. Wynika to z kilku powodów, m.in. trudnych doświadczeń funkcjonowania w Jugosławii, co spowodowało, że Chorwaci nie są pozytywnie nastawieni do cedowania prerogatyw państwowych na rzecz innych podmiotów.
