For this reason, the knowledge of biotransformation pathways of xenobiotics plays a substantial role in environmental monitoring programs. Dimension bounds in monotonicity methods for the Helmholtz equation

The article [B. Harrach, V. Pohjola, and M. Salo, Anal. PDE] established a monotonicity inequality for the Helmholtz equation and presented applications to shape detection and local uniqueness in inverse boundary problems. The monotonicity inequality states that if two scattering coefficients satisfy $q_1 \leq q_2$, then the corresponding Neumann-to-Dirichlet operators satisfy $\Lambda(q_1) \leq \Lambda(q_2)$ up to a finite-dimensional subspace. Here we improve the bounds for the dimension of this space. In particular, if $q_1$ and $q_2$ have the same number of positive Neumann eigenvalues, then the finite-dimensional space is trivial. peerReviewed

Cyanide binding and heme cavity conformational transitions in **Drosophila melanogaster** hexacoordinate hemoglobin

The reason for the presence of hemoglobin-like molecules in insects, such as Drosophila melanogaster, that live in fully aerobic environments has yet to be determined. Heme endogenous hexacoordination (where HisE7 and HisF8 axial ligands to the heme Fe atom are both provided by the protein) is a recently discovered mechanism proposed to modulate O-2 affinity in hemoglobins from different species. Acanthocephalans from Marine Fishes from Patagonia, Argentina

In this study, 542 individual fish from 20 species from the Patagonian continental shelf of Argentina were examined for acanthocephalans. A total of 1,547 acanthocephalans belonging to 5 species were collected from 18 species of fish. Adult forms were represented by 2 species: Aspersentis johni (Baylis, 1929) (Heteracanthocephalidae) from longtail southern cod, Patagonotothen ramsayi (Regan) (new host record), and Breizacanthus aznari Herna´ndez-Orts, Alama-Bermejo, Crespo, Garcı´a, Raga and Montero, 2012 (Arhythmacanthidae) from raneya, Raneya brasiliensis (Kaup). Immobilization of Hexacyanoferrate (III) for a Flow Injection-Spectrophotometric Determination of Promazine

Abstract An automated flow injection method for the determination of promazine is described. The method is based on the oxidation of promazine by hexacyanoferrate (III) and spectrophotometric monitorization of oxidized drug. The chemical and FIA variables were optimized. The calibration graph was linear over the concentration range 2,5–25 ppm of promazine hydrochloride. Some interfering substances were also investigated. The method was applied for the determination of promazine in pharmaceutical formulations.

Mo(CO)6 dissociation on Cu(111) stimulated by a Scanning Tunneling Microscope

Abstract The surface of Cu(111) was exposed to molybdenum hexacarbonyl Mo(CO)6 with monolayer coverage at temperature 160 K and studied by a Scanning Tunneling Microscope. The monolayer structure has a hexagonal arrangement and forms a (√7 × √7) R19 superlattice on the copper (111) plane. Upon repeated scanning the monolayer is transformed into a (1 × 2) superstructure with 3-fold oriented domains. The domains of (1 × 2) superstructure can change orientation under scanning according to 3-fold surface symmetry. Study of single top production at high energy electron positron colliders

The effect of single top production on the study of top quark pair production in future high energy electron--positron colliders is evaluated. The rate of the single top quark production process is sizeable throughout a large range of center-of-mass energies and cannot easily be distinguished from the dominant pair production process. We discuss the impact on the top quark mass extraction from a scan through the pair production threshold and the determination of top quark form factors in the continuum. These results advocate for the exploration of the inclusive $e^+e^-\rightarrow W^+bW^-\bar{b}$ process, that includes both top quark pair and single top quark production.

The dyon charge in noncommutative gauge theories

We present an explicit classical dyon solution for the noncommutative version of the Yang-Mills-Higgs model (in the Prasad-Sommerfield limit) with a tehta term. We show that the relation between classical electric and magnetic charges also holds in noncommutative space. Extending the Noether approach to the case of a noncommutative gauge theory, we analyze the effect of CP violation at the quantum level, induced both by the theta term and by noncommutativity and we prove that the Witten effect formula for the dyon charge remains the same as in ordinary space.
