Estimators and confidence intervals of f2 using bootstrap methodology for the comparison of dissolution profiles

Elastic Constants of Quantum Solids by Path Integral Simulations

Two methods are proposed to evaluate the second-order elastic constants of quantum mechanically treated solids. One method is based on path-integral simulations in the (NVT) ensemble using an estimator for elastic constants. The other method is based on simulations in the (NpT) ensemble exploiting the relationship between strain fluctuations and elastic constants. The strengths and weaknesses of the methods are discussed thoroughly. We show how one can reduce statistical and systematic errors associated with so-called primitive estimators. Expected number of massive galaxy relics in the present-day Universe

The number of present-day massive galaxies that has survived untouched since their formation at high-z is an important observational constraint to the hierarchical galaxy formation models. Using three different semianalytical models based on the Millenium simulation, we quantify the expected fraction and number densities of the massive galaxies form at z>2 which have evolved in stellar mass less than 10% and 30%. We find that only a small fraction of the massive galaxies already form at z~2 have remained almost unaltered since their formation (<2% with Delta_M*/M*<0.1 and <8% with Delta_M*/M*<0.3). From primordial $^4$He abundance to the Higgs field

We constrain the possible time variation of the Higgs vacuum expectation value ($v$) by recent results on the primordial $^4$He abundance ($Y_P$). For that, we improve the analytic models of the key-processes in our previous analytic calculation of the primordial $^4$He abundance. Furthermore, the latest results on the neutron decay, the baryon to photon ratio based on 5-year WMAP observations and a new dependence of the deuteron binding energy on $v$ are incorporated. Renormalization group approach to chaotic strings

Coupled map lattices of weakly coupled Chebychev maps, so-called chaotic strings, may have a profound physical meaning in terms of dynamical models of vacuum fluctuations in stochastically quantized field theories. Here we present analytic results for the invariant density of chaotic strings, as well as for the coupling parameter dependence of given observables of the chaotic string such as the vacuum expectation value. We present a formalism and an implementation for calculating spin-orbit couplings (SOCs) within the EOM-CCSD (equation-of-motion coupled-cluster with single and double substitutions) approach. The following variants of EOM-CCSD are considered: EOM-CCSD for excitation energies (EOM-EE-CCSD), EOM-CCSD with spin-flip (EOM-SF-CCSD), EOM-CCSD for ionization potentials (EOM-IP-CCSD) and electron attachment (EOM-EA-CCSD). Spin-restricted open-shell coupled-cluster theory

Spin-restricted CC theory is suggested as a new approach for the treatment of high-spin open-shell systems in CC theory. Spin constraints are imposed on the wave function in the sense that the projected spin eigenvalue equations are fulfilled within the (truncated) excitation space. These constraints allow a reduction in the number of independent amplitudes, thus decreasing the computational cost when implemented efficiently.
