Nuzhenide and GI3, the principal secoiridoids of an extract obtained from the seeds of Fraxinus excelsior L. (FXE), are believed to be the active compounds responsible for the previously reported hypoglycemic effects of this extract. In this study, the effects of FXE were studied in two animal models which are representative of metabolic disorders: spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and obese Zucker rats. SHR were acutely treated (oral gavage) with different doses of FXE. In addition, SHR and Zucker rats were chronically fed (20 or 5 weeks, respectively) with standard chow supplemented with FXE. The ALHAMBRA survey: accurate merger fractions derived by PDF analysis of photometrically close pairs

[Aims]: Our goal is to develop and test a novel methodology to compute accurate close-pair fractions with photometric redshifts. [Methods]: We improved the currently used methodologies to estimate the merger fraction fm from photometric redshifts by (i) using the full probability distribution functions (PDFs) of the sources in redshift space; (ii) including the variation in the luminosity of the sources with z in both the sample selection and the luminosity ratio constrain; and (iii) splitting individual PDFs into red and blue spectral templates to reliably work with colour selections.We tested the performance of our new methodology with the PDFs provided by the ALHAMBRA photometric survey.…

En aquest treball es mostra una sèrie d’aplicacions realitzades en la fulla de càlcul Excel que pretenen recolzar la docència de l’assignatura de Estadística. Concretament, es mostren diversos gràfics interactius que persegueixen reforçar el contingut desenvolupat en una classe i facilitar la comprensió conceptual per part de l’estudiant del principals aspectes analitzats. Els estudiants poden relacionar, fàcilment, la teoria amb una representació gràfica dotada d’un cert grau de interactivitat.

En este trabajo proponemos un análisis hermenéutico de la tradición dominante en filosofía del deporte: el internalismo. Para ello, identificamos los prejuicios que dirigen su concepción del deporte, a saber: el prejuicio platónico-analítico. Higher education institutions (HEIs) have voiced growing concerns about sustainability issues since Agenda 2030 was approved, but this is not enough for societal stakeholders seeking and delivering innovation and excellence. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by all UN Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action, and pose a challenge for HEIs as for the efforts made to fulfill them and knowing how to assess their performance.
