This study compares four different learning environments for e-collaborative learning in two European countries related to the dimension of student's mutual support. The effects of alpha-cypermethrin exposure on biochemical and redox parameters in pregnant rats and their newborns

During pregnancy, they might affect maternal metabolic status and there after fetal development. In this work, we studied metabolic and redox effects of low dose alpha-cypermethrin exposure in pregnant rats and their offspring. Purpose While merely standing up interrupts sedentary behavior, it is important to study acute metabolic responses during single bouts of sitting and standing to understand the physiological processes affecting the health of office workers. Lipid metabolism during exercise

Seven physically fit (well-trained, maximal oxygen uptake 69.6 +/- 4.4 ml x kg-1 min-1) and eight less fit (moderately trained, maximal oxygen uptake 56.1 +/- 5.7 ml x kg-1 x min-1) healthy male subjects were exercised for 4 h by bicycle ergometry against a pedalling resistance calculated to cause oxygen consumption corresponding to approximately 30% of each individual's maximal oxygen uptake value. Respiratory exchange ratio was estimated at 1 h and blood glucose and lactate concentrations and muscle glycogen content at 2 h intervals. Therapeutic properties of haemodialysis and blood exchange transfusion in organophosphate poisoning

Human blood was contaminated with nitrostigmine, dimethoate and demeton-S-methyl sulfoxide. It was then dialysed, concentrations of organophosphates were determined and dialysance values calculated. The influence of blood exchange transfusion on poison elimination as well as on the cholinesterase activity of blood, brain and muscle was studied in rats poisoned with nitrostigmine. Haemodialysis was found to be quite an effective method for eliminating demeton-S-methyl sulfoxide and dimethoate, dialysance values of 52.98 ml/min and 59.07 ml/min being found for demeton-S-methyl sulfoxide and dimethoate respectively. Is the Border Effect an Artefact of Geographical Aggregation?

The existence of a large border effect is considered as one of the main puzzles of international macroeconomics. We show that the border effect is, to a large extent, an artefact of geographic concentration. In order to do so we combine international flows with intra-national flows data characterised by a high geographic grid. At this fine grid, intra-national flows are highly localised and dropping sharply with distance. The use of a small geographical unit of reference to measure intra-national bilateral trade flows allows to estimating correctly the negative impact of distance on shipments.
