Social Media Monitoring for Crisis Communication: Process, Methods and Trends in the Scientific Literature
2014
This literature review study aims at clarifying current knowledge on social media monitoring from the perspective of organizational communication and public relations. It also contributes to crisis communication by shedding light on how fast developing social media discourse can be followed and analysed in order to understand citizens’ needs throughout all the phases of a crisis. The findings of this study reveal a number of insights in the scientific literature on the concept of monitoring, the monitoring process, methods, tools and solutions, methodological issues and trends covering the years 2009–2012. In the literature, social media monitoring is described as a process which comprises …
Automatic Customization Framework for Efficient Vehicle Routing System Deployment
2017
Vehicle routing systems provide several advantages over manual transportation planning and they are attracting growing attention. However, deployment of these systems can be prohibitively costly, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises: the customization, integration, and migration is laborious and requires operations research expetise. We propose an automated configuration workflow for vehicle routing system and data flow customization, which provides the necessary basis for more experimental work on the subject. Our preliminary results with learning and adaptive algorithms support the assumption of applicability of the proposed configuration framework. The strategies presented h…
Economic Intelligence: Using Innovation to Reinvent the Business
2020
This paper is about showing how economic intelligence could be a tool for relevant innovation decision support and how its integration within the firm can strengthen its innovation capabilities, protect itself from competitors and ensure an essential competitive edge. Innovation is a difficult concept to identify. It’s a complex process that involves all of the firm’s behaviors. Innovation is a decisive choice and risk-taking. Today, it holds a prominent place in corporate strategy. Innovative firms need information about their environments that are characterized by stiffer competition, resulting in the need to keep abreast of competitors’ movements, vendor characteristics and changing tech…

Review of information and communication technologies for smart micro-grid automation
2017
The growing challenges of Smart Micro-Grid can only be met if secure and fast information and communication technology (ICT) solutions are developed. In this paper, some of the ICT techniques are reviewed for smart micro-grid automation. Firstly, an overview of the role of ICT in grid distribution is explained with respect to electricity value chain in power distribution. Further, each domain in the value chain is analyzed with respect to ICT applications in power generation, transmission, distribution and consumption. ICT stands as a prominent driving force to enhance trustworthiness, security, and productivity of the power distribution through information exchange, regulated generation, d…
New dispatching strategy for the integration of active-demand and distributed storage in the electricity market
2015
The proliferation of Distributed Generation (DG) in power systems calls for a redesign of electricity network management, which should be able to accommodate large amounts of intermittent generation. This issue requires a discussion about the current dispatching regulation, giving distributed storage systems and qualified electricity consumption the opportunity to provide ancillary services to the distribution grid. In this work, a new dispatching strategy for the integration of active-demand and distributed storage in the Italian electricity market is presented. The strategy is focused on a distribution Smart Grid (SG), where customers can indirectly participate to the Day-Ahead (DA) and t…
Density gradient expansion of correlation functions
2013
We present a general scheme based on nonlinear response theory to calculate the expansion of correlation functions such as the pair-correlation function or the exchange-correlation hole of an inhomogeneous many-particle system in terms of density derivatives of arbitrary order. We further derive a consistency condition that is necessary for the existence of the gradient expansion. This condition is used to carry out an infinite summation of terms involving response functions up to infinite order from which it follows that the coefficient functions of the gradient expansion can be expressed in terms the local density profile rather than the background density around which the expansion is ca…
Fast evaluation of a linear number of local exchange matrices
2002
A fast method is described for evaluating multiple exchange matrices in a Gaussian atomic orbital basis. For insulators, it is asymptotically linear scaling, and is a generalization of the linear scaling exchange (LinK) method, which was formulated for a single exchange matrix [J. Chem. Phys. 109 (1998) 1663]. It is employed to evaluate exchange-type contractions of all derivative density matrices with two-electron integrals for a series of linear alkanes, linear polyacenes, and water clusters using STO-3G, 3-21G, and 6-31G* basis sets. Significant computational savings are obtained for molecules with as few as 10 non-hydrogen atoms.
Experimental and Computational Study of Unique Tetranuclear µ 3 ‐Chloride and µ‐Phenoxo/Chloro‐Bridged Defective Dicubane Cobalt(II) Clusters
2016
Two tetranuclear CoII clusters [Co4(L)2(µ3-Cl)2Cl2] have been prepared by using multidentate diaminobisphenolate ligands. The solid-state structures of the complexes were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The cores of the cluster compounds can be defined as a two-vertex-deficient dicubane geometry (pseudo-dicubane). In the central unit, the cobalt(II) cations are linked through phenoxide oxygen (outer bridges) and chloride anions (inner bridges), previously unprecedented in this type of cobalt cluster. The magnetic properties were studied by both experimental and computational methods. By using a combination of techniques, we were able to determine the nature and strength of t…
