Behaviour in compression of lightweight fiber reinforced concrete confined with transverse steel reinforcement

Abstract The compressive behavior of lightweight fiber reinforced concrete confined with transverse reinforcement consisting of steel stirrups or spirals was analyzed. Pumice stone and expanded clay aggregates were utilized to decrease the weight of the composite; hooked steel fibers were also added. The investigation was carried out by testing cylindrical and prismatic specimens of different sizes in compression using an open-loop displacement control machine, recording the full load–deformation curves. Multiple sclerosis severity score: Using disability and disease duration to rate disease severity

Background: There is no consensus method for determining progression of disability in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) when each patient has had only a single assessment in the course of the disease. Methods: Using data from two large longitudinal databases, the authors tested whether cross-sectional disability assessments are representative of disease severity as a whole. Ocrelizumab initiation in patients with MS

ObjectiveTo provide first real-world experience on patients with MS treated with the B cell–depleting antibody ocrelizumab.MethodsWe retrospectively collected data of patients who had received at least 1 treatment cycle (2 infusions) of ocrelizumab at 3 large neurology centers. Radiative Recombination in strong laser field

A theoretical treatment of the laser-assisted radiative recombination (LARR) is presented in which the low-frequency (LF) assumption is exploited. The merit of the proposed LF approximation is twofold. First, the LF approximation considerably simplifies the calculations of the transition rates, whereas the results obtained within this approximation are only slightly different from those obtained without resorting to it. Second, the LF approximation gives more insight into the physical picture of the process, which may be viewed as a two-step process. The efficacy of LECA as a sorbent for PAHs was assessed using contact time, mass of sorbent and sorption isotherms in a series of batch experiments. Objective: Recent findings support greater efficacy of early vs. delayed interferon beta (IFN) treatment in patients with a first clinical event suggestive of multiple sclerosis (MS). Theoretical study on hydrogen storage capacity of expanded h-BN systems

In this work, the hydrogen storage capacity of the expanded hexagonal Boron Nitride (eh-BN) systems has been presented. We have employed a new equation of state (EOS) for hydrogen gas to figure out the hydrogen density distribution profiles in the eh-BN systems. In this regard, the environmental conditions (i.e., temperature and pressure) are considered in the prediction procedure using DFT single point calculations.
