Mechanical properties of the NiTi Memoria Leaf Spring Activated Expander (NiTi MLSAE) for maxillary transverse discrepancy correction: An in-vitro st…
2020
Background To determine the mechanical properties of the NiTi Memoria® Leaf Spring Activated Expander (NiTi MLSAE) in two forms, unaltered (unbent) and altered (bent) to mimic clinical use. Material and Methods This in-vitro pilot study was conducted using eight NiTi MLSAE expanders (American Tooth Industries, Oxnard, California) representing four force magnitudes: 10mm 500g, 10mm 900g, 6mm 450g and 6mm 900g models. Two experiments were performed: the first tested the expanders in their unbent form and the second tested them after they were bent by one experienced technician. All expanders were adapted to a standard three dimensional printed maxillary study model. A Dillion Quantrol 500N (1…
Fremdsprachenlernprozesse in der Projektarbeit
2008

AN APPLICATION OF A FIXED POINT THEOREM FOR NONEXPANSIVE OPERATORS
2014
Abstract. In this note, we present an application of a recent xed point theorem by Ricceri to a two-point boundary value problem. KeyWords and Phrases: Fixed point, nonexpansive operator, two-point boundary value problem. 2010 Mathematics Subject Classi cation: 34K10, 47H09, 47H10.

Let T be a nonexpansive self-mapping of a closed bounded convex subset Y of a Hilbert space. For l in (0, 1), the author considers the iteration xl = lf(xl)+(1−l)Txl, where f from Y to Y is a $\phi$-contraction. Then, the author proves that (xl)l converges strongly as l goes to 0 to the unique fixed point of the $\phi$-contraction Pof, where P is the metric projection of Y onto the set FT of fixed points of T. The viscosity approximation method of the paper is obtained from the method proposed by A. Moudafi [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 241 (2000), no. 1, 46–55; MR1738332 (2000k:47085)] for mappings in Hilbert spaces, and by H. K. Xu [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 298 (2004), no. 1, 279–291; MR2086546 (2005…
Topological properties of cellular automata on trees
2012
We prove that there do not exist positively expansive cellular automata defined on the full k-ary tree shift (for k>=2). Moreover, we investigate some topological properties of these automata and their relationships, namely permutivity, surjectivity, preinjectivity, right-closingness and openness.

Inglese:The author presents an interesting discussion on three fundamental results in the literature and related theory: the Poincaré-Miranda theorem [C. Miranda, Boll. Un. Mat. Ital. (2) 3 (1940), 5–7; MR0004775 (3,60b)], the Pireddu-Zanolin fixed point theorem [M. Pireddu and F. Zanolin, Topol. Methods Nonlinear Anal. 30 (2007), no. 2, 279–319; MR2387829 (2009a:37032)] and the Zgliczyński fixed point theorem [P. Zgliczyński, Nonlinear Anal. 46 (2001), no. 7, Ser. A: Theory Methods, 1039–1062; MR1866738 (2002h:37032)]. The author provides generalizations of the last two fixed point theorems by using the original technique that he developed in a previous paper and the Poincaré-Miranda theor…
Self-Defence Against Non-State Actors: Impulses from the Max Planck Trialogues on the Law of Peace and War
2017
The legality of self-defence against non-state actors is currently one of the most contested issues of the jus contra bellum. How should we interpret state practice – has it already given rise, in law, to a broader concept of self-defence, or is the traditional state centred view still good law? Under which specific requirements should self-defence against non-state actors, if at all, be regarded as lawful and how can an abuse of an extended right to self-defence be prevented? The “Impulses from the Max Planck Trialogues on the Law of Peace and War” consist of short essays dealing with these questions. The essays are grouped in four categories: 1) restrictivist positions upholding a state-c…
