Robust H-Infinity Filter Design for Uncertain Linear Systems Over Network with Network-Induced Delays and Output Quantization
2009
This paper investigates a convex optimization approach to the problem of robust H-Infinity filtering for uncertain linear systems connected over a common digital communication network. We consider the case where quantizers are static and the parameter uncertainties are norm bounded. Firstly, we propose a new model to investigate the effect of both the output quantization levels and the network conditions. Secondly, by introducing a descriptor technique, using Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and a suitable change of variables, new required sufficient conditions are established in terms of delay-dependent linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) for the existence of the desired network-based quantize…
Stochastic Stability Analysis for Markovian Jump Neutral Nonlinear Systems
2012
In this paper, the stability problem is studied for a class of Markovian jump neutral nonlinear systems with time-varying delay. By Lyapunov-Krasovskii function approach, a novel mean-square exponential stability criterion is derived for the situations that the system's transition rates are completely accessible, partially accessible and non-accessible, respectively. Moreover, the developed stability criterion is extended to the systems with different bounded sector nonlinear constraints. Finally, some numerical examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
Robust Finite-Time Control of Switched Linear Systems and Application to a Class of Servomechanism Systems
2015
This paper investigates finite-time (FT) stability and stabilization problems for a class of switched linear systems with polytopic uncertainties. Both stable and unstable subsystems are considered to coexist in the system, and a new concept of extended FT stability is proposed as the first attempt. A stability criterion is first established, where the admissible maximum switching number is obtained while ensuring extended FT stability of switched linear systems with time-varying delays under a given maximum ratio between the running time of unstable subsystems and the running time of stable subsystems. Sufficient conditions on the existence of desired memory state-feedback controllers are …
Stability and -gain controller design for positive switched systems with mixed time-varying delays
2013
This paper investigates the problems of stability and L"1-gain controller design for positive switched systems with mixed time-varying delays. The mixed time-varying delays are presented in the forms of discrete delay and distributed delay. The purpose of this paper is to design a class of switching signals and a state feedback controller for the considered system such that the resulting closed-loop system is exponentially stable with L"1-gain performance. By constructing an appropriate co-positive type Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and using the average dwell time approach, we propose a sufficient condition to ensure the exponential stability with weighted L"1-gain performance for the sys…
Optimal nonlinear damping control of second-order systems
2020
Novel nonlinear damping control is proposed for the second-order systems. The proportional output feedback is combined with the damping term which is quadratic to the output derivative and inverse to the set-point distance. The global stability, passivity property, and convergence time and accuracy are demonstrated. Also the control saturation case is explicitly analyzed. The suggested nonlinear damping is denoted as optimal since requiring no design additional parameters and ensuring a fast convergence, without transient overshoots for a non-saturated and one transient overshoot for a saturated control configuration.
Online Pricing via Stackelberg and Incentive Games in a Micro-Grid
2019
This paper deals with the analysis and design of online pricing mechanisms in micro-grids. Two cases are studied in which the market layer is modeled as an open-loop and closed-loop dynamical system respectively. In the case of open-loop market dynamics, the price is generated as equilibrium price of a Stackelberg game with an incentive strategy. In such Stackelberg game, the leader is the energy supplier, the follower is the consumer, and the leader plays an incentive strategy. In the case of closed-loop market dynamics, the price is obtained as a function of the power supplied and the demand. A stability analysis is provided for both cases, which sheds light on the transient and steady-st…
Localization Based on Parallel Robots Kinematics as an Alternative to Trilateration
2022
In this article, a new scheme for range-based localization is proposed. The main goal is to estimate the position of a mobile point based on distance measurements from fixed devices, called anchors, and on inertial measurements. Due to the nonlinear nature of the problem, an analytic relation to compute the position starting from these measurements does not exist, and often trilateration methods are used, generally based on least-square algorithms. The proposed scheme is based on the modeling of the localization process as a parallel robot, thereby methodologies and control algorithms used in the robotic area can be exploited. In particular, a closed-loop control system is designed for trac…
Conservation Laws and Asymptotic Behavior of a Model of Social Dynamics
2008
Abstract A conservative social dynamics model is developed within a discrete kinetic framework for active particles, which has been proposed in [M.L. Bertotti, L. Delitala, From discrete kinetic and stochastic game theory to modelling complex systems in applied sciences, Math. Mod. Meth. Appl. Sci. 14 (2004) 1061–1084]. The model concerns a society in which individuals, distinguished by a scalar variable (the activity) which expresses their social state, undergo competitive and/or cooperative interactions. The evolution of the discrete probability distribution over the social state is described by a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The asymptotic trend of their solutions…
Observer-Based Robust Control for Switched Stochastic Systems with Time-Varying Delay
2013
Published version of an article in the journal: Abstract and Applied Analysis. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2013/320703 Open Access This paper investigates the problem of observer-based robust H ∞ control for a class of switched stochastic systems with time-varying delay. Based on the average dwell time method, an exponential stability criterion for switched stochastic delay systems is proposed. Then, H ∞ performance analysis and observer-based robust H ∞ controller design for the underlying systems are developed. Finally, a numerical example is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
Stabilization and controller design of 2D discrete switched systems with state delays under asynchronous switching
2013
Published version of a paper from the journal: Abstract and Applied Analysis. Also available from Hindawi:http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2013/961870. Open Access This paper is concerned with the problem of robust stabilization for a class of uncertain two-dimensional (2D) discrete switched systems with state delays under asynchronous switching. The asynchronous switching here means that the switching instants of the controller experience delays with respect to those of the system. The parameter uncertainties are assumed to be norm-bounded. A state feedback controller is proposed to guarantee the exponential stability. The dwell time approach is utilized for the stability analysis and controller …
