By replacing parts of the neural plate (prospective medulla oblongata) of Triturus vulgaris by neural ectoderm of Xenopus laevis larval chimaeras were obtained, which showed donorlike rhythmical movements of distinct parts of the visceral musculature according to the place of implantation. Especially the branchial region with its external gills showed rhythmical movements and is the special object of this investigation.

Is the selective information processing of food and body words specific to patients with eating disorders?

The selective processing of food- and body size-related information was investigated using a modified version of the Stroop task. Anorexic and bulimic patients and matched female controls were compared on the basis of categorical (diagnosis), dimensional (restraint and drive for thinness) criteria, or both. The findings suggest that the phenomenon assessed by the Stroop paradigm is not exclusive to patients with a clinical eating disorder, but patients and those control subjects who are restrained eaters with a high drive for thinness share a selective processing of information related to shape and eating. Investigating the Impact of Radiation-Induced Soft Errors on the Reliability of Approximate Computing Systems

International audience; Approximate Computing (AxC) is a well-known paradigm able to reduce the computational and power overheads of a multitude of applications, at the cost of a decreased accuracy. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have proven to be particularly suited for AxC because of their inherent resilience to errors. However, the implementation of AxC techniques may affect the intrinsic resilience of the application to errors induced by Single Events in a harsh environment. This work introduces an experimental study of the impact of neutron irradiation on approximate computing techniques applied on the data representation of a CNN.
Domestic Policies in Self-Enforcing Trade Agreements

If all cross-country externalities travel through the terms-of-trade, efficient trade agreements target the terms-of-trade but ignore domestic policies. This argument has been advanced by prominent studies on trade agreements. The present paper shows that its logic fails if production possibilities are intertemporally linked -- for example, under dynamic factor accumulation. In this case, past policies shape current production possibilities and thus affect defection temptations. Therefore, self-enforcing trade agreements that leave the choice of domestic policies to individual countries risk that countries abandon the zone of voluntarily cooperation while optimizing their policies. Air pollution has important implications for human health and associated external costs to society and is closely related to climate change. This contribution tries to assess the impacts of present (1996-2015) and future (2071-2100 under RCP8.5) air pollution on several cardiovascular and respiratory pathologies and estimate the difference in the costs associated with these health impacts on the European population. For this, air quality data from the regional chemistry-climate modelling system of the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model coupled with Chemistry (WRF-Chem) are used, together with some epidemiological information from the European Commission. Abstract In this review I provide a brief analysis of the main features of the collective volume Shifting Concepts (Oxford University Press, 2020), edited by Teresa Marques and Asa Wikforss. The volume addresses several related topics, and it contains contributions from psychologists and philosophers. It deals with the topic of concept variation understood in a broad sense, for it tackles diachronic, contextual, interpersonal and even intrapersonal variation; besides, the second part of the book is devoted to the topic of concept revision and amelioration. I provide a brief description of the book and then I critically assess each of the contributions.
