Teachers' visual focus of attention in relation to students' basic academic skills and teachers' individual support for students: An eye-tracking stu…

2022

This study investigated how teachers' visual focus of attention is associated with students' basic academic skills and teachers' individual support for students in basic academic skills in authentic classroom settings. Teachers' (N = 46) visual focus of attention in the classroom was measured with mobile eye-tracking, and students' (N = 879) literacy and math skills were tested in Grade 1. The results revealed that teachers' visual focus of attention in terms of fixation counts correlated with students' basic academic skills and teachers' individual support for students in literacy and math. Two case studies showed that teachers' visual focus of attention varied among students with differen…

Digital Device Usage Time and Ocular Symptoms during COVID-19 Pandemic

2021

Supplementary Material for: Incidence of Retinal Detachment in Germany: Results from the Gutenberg Health Study

2021

Purpose: To investigate the incidence of retinal detachment in the German population and to assess potential risk factors. Methods: The Gutenberg Health Study is a population-based cohort study in Mainz, Germany, including subjects (n = 15,010) with an age range from 35 to 74 years at baseline examination. Study participants underwent a comprehensive ophthalmological examination including distant-corrected visual acuity, refraction and slit-lamp examination at baseline examination. A computer-assisted telephone interview was conducted after 2.5 and 5 years, and health events were recorded. The 5-year cumulative incidence of retinal detachment was computed for the study sample and stratified…

Sensitivity and Specificity of the ECAS in Parkinson's Disease and Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.

2017

Disentangling Parkinson's disease (PD) and progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) may be a diagnostic challenge. Cognitive signs may be useful, but existing screens are often insufficiently sensitive or unsuitable for assessing people with motor disorders. We investigated whether the newly developed ECAS, designed to be used with people with even severe motor disability, was sensitive to the cognitive impairment seen in PD and PSP and able to distinguish between these two disorders. Thirty patients with PD, 11 patients with PSP, and 40 healthy controls were assessed using the ECAS, as well as an extensive neuropsychological assessment. The ECAS detected cognitive impairment in 30% of the PD p…

Acu kustības pabeigtu un nepabeigtu objektu kontūru izsekošanā

2016

Pabeigtu un izzūdošu figūru kontūras izsekošana i…

Developmental dyslexia: Visual abnormalities during ocular rotation

2005

Purpose: Most of the studies dealing with visual perception disabilities in children suffering from developmental dyslexia have been done in orthophoric position. The objective of the present study is to explore the visual perception during eye movements. Methods: Sixty male patients (11.8 ± 1.8 years) were examined by neuropsychologists to evaluate reading difficulties. Visual perception during ocular rotation was assessed with a Clement Clarke synoptophore with G3–G4 slides, in primary gaze, then laterally at 20, 30 and 40° in dim light. Results: Three main abnormalities were found. • Isolated perception abnormalities with intermittent shading of the image, central, p…
