Here, the authors report the optical modification of topographical and optical properties of monolayer MoS2 with femtosecond pulses under an inert atmosphere. A formation of three-dimensional structures on monolayer MoS2 with tunable height up to ≈20 nm is demonstrated. In contrast to unmodified monolayer MoS2, these optically modified structures show significantly different optical properties, such as lower photoluminescence intensity and longer fluorescence lifetime. AbstractThe associations among readers’ cognitive skills (general cognitive ability, reading skills, and attentional functioning), task demands (easy versus difficult questions), and process measures (total fixation time on relevant and irrelevant paragraphs) was investigated to explain task-oriented reading accuracy and efficiency (number of scores in a given time unit). Structural equation modeling was applied to a large dataset collected with sixth-grade students, which included samples of dysfluent readers and those with attention difficulties. Transkraniaalisella tasavirtastimulaatiolla (tDCS) tarkoitetaan menetelmää, jossa johdetaan heikkoa sähkövirtaa aivokudosten läpi elektrodilta toiselle. Tutkimusten mukaan tDCS:lla näyttäisi olevan monenlaisia kliinisiä ja kognitiivisia vaikutuksia aina masennuksen hoidosta työmuistin parantamiseen. Tulokset ovat kuitenkin monin paikoin varsin ristiriitaisia, eikä stimulaation tarkoista vaikutusmekanismeistakaan olla päästy varmuuteen. Tässä tutkimuksessa halusimme tutkia kokeellisesti tDCS:n vaikutuksia erottelu- ja käänteisoppimiseen sekä reagointiherkkyyden muutoksiin silmäniskuehdollistumisen avulla. Evidence for immunologic contribution to glaucoma pathophysiology is steadily increasing in ophthalmic research. Particularly, an altered abundance of circulating autoantibodies to ocular antigens is frequently observed. Here, we report an analysis of autoantibody abundancies to selected antigens in sera of open-angle glaucoma patients, subdivided into normal-tension glaucoma (N = 31), primary open-angle glaucoma (N = 43) and pseudoexfoliation glaucoma (N = 45), vs. a non-glaucomatous control group (N = 46). Immunological processes are proposed to be involved in POAG pathogenesis. RESUMEN. En el ámbito jurídico cada vez es más frecuente encontrar expresiones que hacen alusión a la utilización de un lenguaje no sexista. El plano normativo quizá sea uno de los más representativos. En este trabajo se consideran varias leyes de igualdad donde aparecen expresiones de este tipo. Partiendo de esta circunstancia, se pretende dejar constancia de la dificultad que entraña la interpretación del alcance práctico de dichas expresiones. El presente artículo describe en síntesis los orígenes y desarrollo literario posterior del tema Grial, desde las primeras leyendas artúricas. Pese a sus posibles inicios paganos, el Grial pronto es identificado con el Santo Cáliz de la Última Cena, lo que imprime un carácter religioso a los relatos en los que se integra el motivo de su búsqueda como objeto perdido. A partir del siglo XIV esa religiosidad se desdibuja y cuando el tema del Grial sea recuperado para la literatura y el arte será como objeto de valor místico o espiritual, que supera el sentido netamente cristiano que tuvo en el Medievo. Lipofuscin, a non-degradable, degenerative fluorescent pigment which accumulates in post-mitotic cells, represents a promising method for ageing marine crustaceans. The presence and accumulation of lipofuscin has been studied in the deep-water red shrimp Aristaeomorpha foliacea (Risso, 1827) to assess its use as a tool for ageing larger (i.e., older) specimens and thus improve knowledge of the growth and longevity of this species.
