Comparison of cyclodeviation and duction measurement in Graves' orbitopathy patients using different devices

To compare measurement outcomes of different devices measuring cyclodeviation and ductions in Graves' orbitopathy (GO) patients. Cyclodeviation in GO patients was measured using the Harms tangent screen (HTS), the cycloforometer of Franceschetti, and the synoptometer. Ductions were measured using the modified perimeter, the Goldmann perimeter and the Maddox tangent scale (MTS). In 13 patients, cyclodeviation in primary position, up-, and downgaze was measured with the above-mentioned devices. This study compares the improvement and generalization of arm motor performance after physical or mental training in a motor task requiring a speed-accuracy tradeoff. During the pre- and post-training sessions, 40 subjects pointed with their right arm as accurately and as fast as possible toward targets placed in the frontal plane. Arm movements were performed in two different workspaces called right and left paths. Itch is the most bothersome symptom in psoriasis, often leading to impaired quality of life. Treatment of psoriasis-induced itch is frequently unsatisfactory as the various therapies employed have a delayed onset of effect. Histamine-1 receptor (H1) antihistamines are not recommended in treatment guidelines as histamine is not considered a key mediator in psoriasis. Ophthalmologic complications after intraoral local anesthesia with articaine.

A series of 14 cases of ophthalmologic complications after intraoral anesthesia of the posterior superior alveolar nerve is presented. The most commonly encountered symptoms were diplopia, mydriasis, palpebral ptosis, and abduction difficulties of the affected eye. In all cases, these effects occurred a few minutes after injection of the anesthetic, followed by complete resolution without sequelae on cessation of the anesthetic effect. The pathogenic mechanism underlying such ophthalmologic disorders is discussed in terms of a possible diffusion of the anesthetic solution toward the orbital region.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic value of contrast-enhanced MR angiography (ce MRA) and helical CT angiography (CTA) of the pulmonary arteries in the preoperative workup of patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). The ce MRA and CTA studies of 32 patients were included in this retrospective evaluation. Image quality was scored by two independent blinded observers. The aim of this study was to investigate whether a novel heart rate (HR)-running speed index could be used in monitoring adaptation to endurance training. Forty-five recreational runners underwent a 2-phased 28-week training regime. The first 14 weeks included basic endurance training, whereas the second 14 weeks were more intensive (increased volume and intensity). A maximal treadmill running test was performed in the beginning of the experiment, in the middle of basic endurance training, and at the end of each training period (PRE, WEEK 7, WEEK 14, and POST).
