Ethyl glucuronide (EtG) is a non-volatile, non-oxidative, hydrophilic, and stable ethanol phase II metabolite. EtG is produced through ethanol glucuronidation by UDP-glucuronosyltransferase (UGT), a phase II enzyme. EtG can be extracted from different biological matrices, including keratin ones, such as hair or nails. A methodology for the control of the residual lifetimes of carbon fibre reinforced composite pressure vessels

Traditional techniques for metal vessels are inapplicable for composite vessels as the latter do not break by crack propagation so that the reasoning behind the traditional testing procedures is not appropriate. Damage accumulation leading to the degradation of a composite vessel is by fibre failure. Fibres show a wide distribution in strengths and loading a composite inevitably breaks some. The method which has been developed is supported by an analysis of delayed fibre failure due to the relaxation of the resin around fibre breaks. El objetivo del presente estudio consistió en examinar las diferencias en las funciones ejecutivas de inhibición y memoria de trabajo (MT) evaluadas en Educación Infantil entre sujetos con dificultades persistentes en el área de matemáticas en 2º de Educación Primaria y niños con un rendimiento adecuado. La muestra final del estudio estuvo conformada por 180 niños (inicialmente compuesta por 209 preescolares), de los cuales un 6.6% presentaron dificultades matemáticas persistentes (n = 12) y el 45.5% mostraron un rendimiento adecuado en ambas mediciones (n = 82). Instytucja podmiotu zobowiązanego do zwrotu korzyści majątkowej poprzednio była uregulowana w art. 52 Kodeksu karnego1 oraz art. 416 Kodeksu postępowania karnego2. Przepisy te zostały uchylone, jednak po około dwóch latach ustawodawca powrócił do wspomnianego rozwiązania w art. 91a i art. 415a k.p.k. Tiivistelmä – Abstract Tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvittää yläkoulun oppilaiden ja opettajien mielipiteitä sanaston oppimiseen suunnatuista tehtävistä; millaiset tehtävät heidän mielestään sopivat sanaston oppimiseen yläkoulussa. Samalla selvitettiin sanaston oppimista koulun ulkopuolella sekä sanaston oppimiseen käytettyä aikaa. Oppilaiden ja opettajien mielipiteitä verrattiin toisiinsa. Tutkimus toteutettiin Tampereella vuonna 2010. Osallistujina olivat kolme englannin opettajaa ja heidän luokkansa, yksi kutakin luokka-astetta, yhteensä 52 oppilasta. It is largely unknown how the distribution of CVD risk factors or intermediate phenotypes explain sex-specific differences. Methods and Results: In 5000 individuals of the population-based Gutenberg Health Study, mean age 55 ± 11 years, 51% males, we examined sex-specific associations of classical CVD risk factors with intima-media thickness, ankle-brachial index, flow-mediated dilation, peripheral arterial tonometry, echocardiographic, and electrocardiographic variables. There has been a recent, unprecedented interest in the role of gut microbiota in host health and disease. Technological advances have dramatically expanded our knowledge of the gut microbiome. Increasing evidence has indicated a strong link between gut microbiota and the development of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). In the present article, we discuss the contribution of gut microbiota in the development and progression of CVD.
