The phenomenon of quasi-periodic pulsations (QPPs) in solar and stellar flares has been known for over 50 years and significant progress has been made in this research area. It has become clear that QPPs are not rare—they are found in many flares and, therefore, robust flare models should reproduce their properties in a natural way. At least fifteen mechanisms/models have been developed to explain QPPs in solar flares, which mainly assume the presence of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) oscillations in coronal structures (magnetic loops and current sheets) or quasi-periodic regimes of magnetic reconnection. Revisiting the quiet life hypothesis in banking using nonparametric techniques

Early studies testing the quiet life hypothesis in banking found strong evidence that banks in more concentrated markets exhibit lower cost efficiency levels. More recent studies have reexamined the issue in different contexts, with mixed results. These approaches are based on stipulating a linear re- lationship between market power and efficiency in banking, which might be problematic, as suggested by the literature on efficiency analysis. La descarga de música de Internet es un fenómeno cada vez más extendido, que está causando importantes daños a la industria musical. Tomando como referencia la Teoría del Comportamiento Planeado, el presente trabajo trata de identificar las variables que condicionan la intención del individuo de descargarse música no autorizada, incorporando nuevas relaciones no contempladas explícitamente en la teoría considerada. Sólo conociendo el por qué del comportamiento se podrá valorar la posible instrumentalización de acciones a tendentes mejorar la situación por la que atraviesa la industria musical. A partir de los resultados obtenidos, se proponen acciones vinculadas con la gestión.

A country's institutional framework plays a crucial role in promoting entrepreneurship, which drives economic growth. Encouraging a minimum level of certainty in ambiguous environments characterized by risk taking is important. Aware of this importance, we analyze the influence of institutional factors on entrepreneurship development. Specifically, we analyze political stability, government effectiveness, regulatory quality, a robust rule of law, the ease of starting a new business, and the ease of obtaining credit. ResumenNumerosas empresas minoristas han decidido crear tiendas virtuales como alternativa a la tienda física. El presente trabajo pretende analizar los factores que influyen en esta decisión estratégica y su impacto sobre los resultados del negocio entre los principales minoristas del Reino Unido, Francia y España. A partir de una regresión binaria y del análisis de la varianza, los resultados muestran que la adopción del comercio electrónico por el minorista es afectada por el tamaño de la empresa, el tipo de bien comercializado y el país donde se ubica el establecimiento.
