The Complete Two-Loop Integrated Jet Thrust Distribution In Soft-Collinear Effective Theory
2013
In this work, we complete the calculation of the soft part of the two-loop integrated jet thrust distribution in e+e- annihilation. This jet mass observable is based on the thrust cone jet algorithm, which involves a veto scale for out-of-jet radiation. The previously uncomputed part of our result depends in a complicated way on the jet cone size, r, and at intermediate stages of the calculation we actually encounter a new class of multiple polylogarithms. We employ an extension of the coproduct calculus to systematically exploit functional relations and represent our results concisely. In contrast to the individual contributions, the sum of all global terms can be expressed in terms of cla…
Monte Carlo techniques in small-x physics: Formal studies and phenomenology
2013
We discuss the solution to the BFKL equation in the adjoint representation at LO and NLO accuracy for the N = 4 SUSY theory. We use Monte Carlo techniques to study numerically the Gluon Green’s function at LO and NLO directly written in the transverse momentum space which allows for the factorization of its infrared divergencies. Finally, we discuss the applicability of our approach to phenomenological searches for the BKP Odderon at the LHC.
Semileptonic and nonleptonic decays of B c
2007
Using our relativistic constituent quark model we present results on the exclusive nonleptonic and semileptonic decays of the B c-meson. The nonleptonic decays are studied in the framework of the factorization approximation. We calculate the branching ratios for a large set of exclusive nonleptonic and semileptonic decays of the B c meson and compare our results with the results of other models.
Chiral approach to antikaons in dense matter
2008
Antikaons in dense nuclear matter are studied using a chiral unitary approach which incorporates the s- and p-waves of the \( \bar K \) N interaction. We include, in a self-consistent way, Pauli blocking effects, meson self-energies modified by nuclear short-range correlations and baryon binding potentials. We show that the on-shell factorization cannot be applied to evaluate the in-medium corrections to p-wave amplitudes. We also obtain an attractive shift for the Λ and Σ masses of −30 MeV at saturation density while the Σ* width gets sensibly increased to about 80 MeV. The moderate attraction developed by the antikaon does not support the existence of very deep and narrow bound states.
Nonperturbative-transverse-momentum effects and evolution in dihadron and direct photon-hadron angular correlations in p+p collisions at s=510 GeV
2017
Dihadron and isolated direct photon-hadron angular correlations are measured in $p$$+$$p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=510$ GeV. Correlations of charged hadrons of $0.7<p_T<10$ GeV/$c$ with $\pi^0$ mesons of $4<p_T<15$ GeV/$c$ or isolated direct photons of $7<p_T<15$ GeV/$c$ are used to study nonperturbative effects generated by initial-state partonic transverse momentum and final-state transverse momentum from fragmentation. The nonperturbative behavior is characterized by measuring the out-of-plane transverse momentum component $p_{\rm out}$ perpendicular to the axis of the trigger particle, which is the high-$p_T$ direct photon or $\pi^0$. Nonperturbative evolution effects are extracted from …
Automated NNLL+NLO Resummation for Jet-Veto Cross Sections
2014
In electroweak-boson production processes with a jet veto, higher-order corrections are enhanced by logarithms of the veto scale over the invariant mass of the boson system. In this paper, we resum these Sudakov logarithms at next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic (NNLL) accuracy and match our predictions to next-to-leading order (NLO) fixed-order results. We perform the calculation in an automated way, for arbitrary electroweak final states and in the presence of kinematic cuts on the leptons produced in the decays of the electroweak bosons. The resummation is based on a factorization theorem for the cross sections into hard functions, which encode the virtual corrections to the boson product…
A detailed analysis ofD-,D s - andB-meson transition form factors and the determination of |V cb |
1990
We study various transition form factors in semi-leptonic decays ofD-,Ds-,B- andBs-mesons using the pole dominance assumption. The vector current form factor is found to have only a negligible contribution to the decay rates involving pseudoscalar to vector transitions. In view of this fact we evaluate the form factors from present experimental data on the exclusive semi-leptonic decay rateΓ and the ratioΓl/ΓT of the longitudinal and transverse partial decay rates. Some non-leptonic two-body decay rates are also investigated using the factorization ansatz. Consistency with the semi-leptonic decays is found. The transition form factors of theD- andDs-mesons are found to contradict the predic…
$${\bar{B}}^0$$ B ¯ 0 , $$B^{-}$$ B - and $${\bar{B}}^0_s$$ B ¯ s 0 decays into $$J/\psi $$ J / ψ and $$K {\bar{K}}$$ K K ¯ or $$\pi \eta $$ π η
2015
We study the $\bar B^0_s \to J/\psi K^+ K^-$, $\bar B^0 \to J/\psi K^+ K^-$, $B^- \to J/\psi K^0 K^-$, $\bar B^0 \to J/\psi \pi^0 \eta$ and $B^- \to J/\psi \pi^- \eta$ decays and compare their mass distributions with those obtained for the $\bar B^0_s \to J/\psi \pi^+ \pi^-$ and $\bar B^0 \to J/\psi \pi^+ \pi^-$. The approach followed consist in a factorization of the weak part and the hadronization part into a factor which is common to all the processes. Then what makes the reactions different are some trivial Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements and the weight by which the different pairs of mesons appear in a primary step plus their final state interaction. These elements are part o…
BLM scale for the pion transition form factor
2001
The NLO Brodsky-Lepage-Mackenzie (BLM) scale for the pion transition form factor has been determined. To achieve that, a consistent calculation up to nf-proportional NNLO contributions to both the hard-scattering amplitude and the perturbatively calculable part of the pion distribution amplitude has been performed. By combining and matching the results obtained for these two amplitudes, a proper cancellation of collinear singularities has been established and the gamma5 ambiguity problem (related to the use of the dimensional regularization method) has been resolved by using the naive-gamma5 as well as the 't Hooft-Veltman (HV) schemes. It has been demonstrated that the prediction for the p…
Single inclusive hadron production in pA collisions at NLO
2016
We study single inclusive forward hadron production in high energy proton-nucleus collisions at next-to-leading order in the Color Glass Condensate framework. Recent studies have shown that the next-to-leading order corrections to this process are large and negative at large transverse momentum, leading to negative cross sections. We propose to overcome this difficulty by introducing an explicit rapidity factorization scale when subtracting the rapidity divergence into the evolution of the target.
