On the spectral moments of non-WSSUS mobile-to mobile double-Rayleigh fading channels

2017

This paper deals with the mathematical analysis of the spectral moments of non-wide-sensestationary uncorrelated-scattering (non-WSSUS) mobile-to-mobile (M2M) double-Rayleigh fading channels. The point of departure is a recently proposed geometry-based statistical model (GBSM) for M2M double-Rayleigh fading channels from which general analytical expressions are derived for the average Doppler shift, Doppler spread, average delay, and delay spread. Closed-form solutions of such expressions are presented for the particular case of the geometrical two-rings scattering model. The obtained results indicate that the average Doppler shift and Doppler spread are directly influenced by not only the …

On the statistical properties of the capacity of OSTBC Nakagami-lognormal MIMO channels

2010

This article presents a thorough statistical analysis of the capacity of orthogonal space-time block coded (OSTBC) Nakagami-lognormal (NLN) multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) channels. The NLN channel model allows to study the joint effects of fast fading and shadowing on the statistical properties of the channel capacity. We have derived exact analytical expressions for the probability density function (PDF), cumulative distribution function (CDF), level-crossing rate (LCR), and average duration of fades (ADF) of the capacity of NLN MIMO channels. It is observed that an increase in the MIMO dimension1 or a decrease in the severity of fading results in an increase in the mean channel capa…

The Influence of the Severity of Fading and Shadowing on the Statistical Properties of the Capacity of Nakagami-Lognormal Channels

2008

This paper deals with the study of the statistical properties of the capacity of Nakagami-lognormal (NLN) channels for various fading environments. Specifically, the impact of shadowing and the severity of fading on the channel capacity is investigated. We have derived analytical expressions for the probability density function (PDF), cumulative distribution function (CDF), level-crossing rate (LCR), and average duration of fades (ADF) of the channel capacity. These results are analyzed for different levels of shadowing and for various fading conditions, corresponding to different terrestrial environments. It is observed that the severity of fading and shadowing has a significant influence …

On the statistical properties of the capacity of double Hoyt fading channels

2010

The statistical properties of the capacity of narrowband double Hoyt fading channels are studied. Toward this end, analytical expressions for the probability density function (PDF) and cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the instantaneous channel capacity process are derived. Furthermore, for the characterization of the dynamical behavior of the time-varying channel capacity, expressions are provided for the level-crossing rate (LCR) and the average duration of fades (ADF). Since the double Rayleigh fading channel is a special case of the double Hoyt model, it is shown that the derived expressions can be reduced to the corresponding results already known for the capacity of the double…

Channel capacity of fading channels for differentially encoded transmission

1999

The capacity of flat fading channels when applying differential encoding with noncoherent reception and no channel state information available at the receiver is considered. Numerical results indicate the gains achievable by multiple symbol detection in the case of slowly time-varying channels and provide a comparison between schemes with different potential bandwidth efficiencies.

A Trajectory-Driven 3D Channel Model for Human Activity Recognition

2021

This paper concerns the design, analysis, and simulation of a 3D non-stationary channel model fed with inertial measurement unit (IMU) data. The work in this paper provides a framework for simulating the micro-Doppler signatures of indoor channels for human activity recognition by using radiofrequency-based sensing technologies. The major human body segments, such as wrists, ankles, torso, and head, are modelled as a cluster of moving point scatterers. We provide expressions for the time variant (TV) speed and TV angles of motion based on 3D trajectories of the moving person. Moreover, we present mathematical expressions for the TV Doppler shifts and TV path gains associated with each movin…

Continuous-flow spectrophotometric determination of sulfadiazine by diazotisation with in situ preparation of nitrite

1995

Abstract Nitrite is prepared in situ for the determination of sulfadiazine. The method is based on solid-phase reduction of copperized cadmium of nitrate; the nitrite reagent merges with the sample stream in hydrochloric acid medium and the resulting mixture is injected into the water carrier, pure distilled water, and then merges with the N-(1-naphthyl)ethylendiamine reagent and is measured spectrophotometrically at 542.0 nm. The calibration graph is linear over the range 0.5–50 μg ml−1 sulfadiazine, mid-range R.S.D. = 0.3% (n = 5) and sample throughput 72 h−1. The procedure is applied to sulfadiazine determination in a pharmaceutical formulation and to in vitro dissolution studies of two …

GAMIT - A Fading-Gaussian Activation Model of Interval-Timing: Unifying Prospective and Retrospective Time Estimation

2014

Two recent findings constitute a serious challenge for all existing models of interval timing. First, Hass and Hermann (2012) have shown that only variance-based processes will lead to the scalar growth of error that is characteristic of human time judgments. Secondly, a major meta-review of over one hundred studies of participants’ judgments of interval duration (Block et al., 2010) reveals a striking interaction between the way in which temporal judgments are queried (i.e., retrospectively or prospectively) and cognitive load. For retrospective time judgments, estimates under high cognitive load are longer than under low cognitive load. For prospective judgments, the reverse pattern holds…

A Random Trajectory Approach for the Development of Nonstationary Channel Models Capturing Different Scales of Fading

2017

This paper introduces a new approach to developing stochastic nonstationary channel models, the randomness of which originates from a random trajectory of the mobile station (MS) rather than from the scattering area. The new approach is employed by utilizing a random trajectory model based on the primitives of Brownian fields (BFs), whereas the position of scatterers can be generated from an arbitrarily 2-D distribution function. The employed trajectory model generates random paths along which the MS travels from a given starting point to a fixed predefined destination point. To capture the path loss, the gain of each multipath component is modeled by a negative power law applied to the tra…

Throughput and delay analysis of HARQ with code combining over double Rayleigh fading channels

2018

This paper proposes the use of hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) with code combining (HARQ-CC) to offer reliable communications over double Rayleigh channels. The double Rayleigh fading channel is of particular interest to vehicleto-vehicle communication systems as well as amplify-and-forward relaying and keyhole channels. This paper studies the performance of HARQ-CC over double Rayleigh channels from an information theoretic perspective. Analytical approximations are derived for the ϵ-outage capacity, the average number of transmissions, and the throughput of HARQ-CC. Moreover, we evaluate the delay experienced by Poisson-arriving packets for HARQ-CC. We provide analytical expression…
