The level of sexual satisfaction and life satisfaction during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Poland

2022

WSTĘP. Pandemia COVID-19 niewątpliwie zmieniła życie Polaków, wzbudzając niepokój i niepewność. Satysfakcja z życia i satysfakcja seksualna to subiektywne oceny życia i jego seksualnej sfery. Dotychczasowe badania wskazują na związek pomiędzy satysfakcją seksualną a satysfakcją z życia. CEL PRACY. MATERIAŁ I METODY. W badaniu uczestniczyło 440 osób, w wieku od 18 do 40 lat (M = 24,31, SD = 4,90). Badanie zostało przeprowadzone onl…

Pseudomorphic transformation of amorphous calcium carbonate films follows spherulitic growth mechanisms and can give rise to crystal lattice tilting

2015

Amorphous calcium carbonate films synthesized by the polymer-induced liquid-precursor (PILP) process convert into crystallographically complex calcite spherulites. Tuning the experimental parameters allows for the generation of crystal lattice tilting similar to that found in calcareous biominerals. This contribution evidences the role of spherulitic growth mechanisms in pseudomorphic transformations of calcium carbonate.

Genome-wide Association Study and Meta-Analysis Identify ISL1 as Genome-wide Significant Susceptibility Gene for Bladder Exstrophy

2015

The bladder exstrophy-epispadias complex (BEEC) represents the severe end of the uro-rectal malformation spectrum, and is thought to result from aberrant embryonic morphogenesis of the cloacal membrane and the urorectal septum. The most common form of BEEC is isolated classic bladder exstrophy (CBE). To identify susceptibility loci for CBE, we performed a genome-wide association study (GWAS) of 110 CBE patients and 1,177 controls of European origin. Here, an association was found with a region of approximately 220kb on chromosome 5q11.1. This region harbors the ISL1 (ISL LIM homeobox 1) gene. Multiple markers in this region showed evidence for association with CBE, including 84 markers with…

The analysis of 51 genes in DSM-IV combined type attention deficit hyperactivity disorder: association signals in DRD4, DAT1 and 16 other genes.

2006

Contains fulltext : 35205.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Closed access) Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common neurodevelopmental disorder, starting in early childhood and persisting into adulthood in the majority of cases. Family and twin studies have demonstrated the importance of genetic factors and candidate gene association studies have identified several loci that exert small but significant effects on ADHD. To provide further clarification of reported associations and identify novel associated genes, we examined 1,038 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) spanning 51 candidate genes involved in the regulation of neurotransmitter pathways, particularly dopamine, nor…

Genome-wide association scan of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder

2008

Contains fulltext : 70191.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Closed access) Results of behavioral genetic and molecular genetic studies have converged to suggest that genes substantially contribute to the development of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), a common disorder with an onset in childhood. Yet, despite numerous linkage and candidate gene studies, strongly consistent and replicable association has eluded detection. To search for ADHD susceptibility genes, we genotyped approximately 600,000 SNPs in 958 ADHD affected family trios. After cleaning the data, we analyzed 438,784 SNPs in 2,803 individuals comprising 909 complete trios using ADHD diagnosis as phenotype. We present t…

A Safe and Effective Magnetic Labeling Protocol for MRI-Based Tracking of Human Adult Neural Stem Cells

2019

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provides a unique tool for in vivo visualization and tracking of stem cells in the brain. This is of particular importance when assessing safety of experimental cell treatments in the preclinical or clinical setup. Yet, specific imaging requires an efficient and non-perturbing cellular magnetic labeling which precludes adverse effects of the tag, e.g., the impact of iron-oxide-nanoparticles on the critical differentiation and integration processes of the respective stem cell population investigated. In this study we investigated the effects of very small superparamagnetic iron oxide particle (VSOP) labeling on viability, stemness, and neuronal differentiatio…

The Interaction of Person-Affect-Cognition-Execution (I-PACE) model for addictive behaviors: Update, generalization to addictive behaviors beyond int…

2019

We propose an updated version of the Interaction of Person-Affect-Cognition-Execution (I-PACE) model, which we argue to be valid for several types of addictive behaviors, such as gambling, gaming, buying-shopping, and compulsive sexual behavior disorders. Based on recent empirical findings and theoretical considerations, we argue that addictive behaviors develop as a consequence of the interactions between predisposing variables, affective and cognitive responses to specific stimuli, and executive functions, such as inhibitory control and decision-making. In the process of addictive behaviors, the associations between cue-reactivity/craving and diminished inhibitory control contribute to th…

Spreading of Competing Information in a Network

2020

We propose a simple approach to investigate the spreading of news in a network. In more detail, we consider two different versions of a single type of information, one of which is close to the essence of the information (and we call it good news), and another of which is somehow modified from some biased agent of the system (fake news, in our language). Good and fake news move around some agents, getting the original information and returning their own version of it to other agents of the network. Our main interest is to deduce the dynamics for such spreading, and to analyze if and under which conditions good news wins against fake news. The methodology is based on the use of ladder fermion…

Samtidskunst i skolen : En studie som inviterer elever til en konseptuell workshopspraksis

2019

Masteroppgave kunstfag KF500 - Universitetet i Agder 2019 Both from the elementary school education and the professional life, I have gained insight and an experience basis for commenting on the subject of arts and crafts. There are often techniques and crafts that are in focus. I miss howthe subject to a greater extentcanchallengestudent`s in critical thinking, playful exploration and reflection, especially with regards to visual art. This master thesis focuses on theseperspectives for teaching in the subject arts and crafts, and discuss contemporary art's place intheschool. The thesis can be viewed as a post in the discourse about the new curriculumforarts and crafts, scheduledtobe comple…
