Background Oxidative stress is associated with an increased risk of atherothrombosis and platelet activation as several animal models have been shown. The increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) leads to lipids peroxidation of the cell membranes and of lipoproteins, high production of F2-isoprostanes from arachidonic acid, thus modulating the platelet activation induced by thromboxane. 8-iso-PGF2a and 11-deidro-tromboxane (TX)B2 are in vivo markers of oxidative stress and platelet activation, respectively. Recently it has been shown that subjects with low plasma levels of HDL (increased cardiovascular risk) present with high urinary levels of these markers. This excretion is r…
Adherence to colchicine treatment and colchicine resistance in a multicentric FMF national cohort
2020

There is no standard definition of colchicine resistance. Recently a panel of experts elaborated a new definition based on a Delphi consensus approach. Objectives: We aim to describe main features of the disease and clinical outcome of a cohort of FMF pts with particular interest on the colchicine resistance and tolerability according to the definitions proposed by the recent consensus.

La Empresa Familiar Multigeneracional
2009
The general aim of this work, “From the Founder to Multigenerational Family Business: The Family’s Crucial Role as an Owner for Longevity”, is to contribute in discovering the reasons why family businesses manage to survive. The conceptual approach taken as the starting point for this work, the information examined and the research methodology pursued by the authors involve criteria that are clearly different from those followed by the works from other scholars on the same topic. The conceptual approach taken here springs from the conviction that the basic key to understanding the success of a multigenerational family business lies in the qualities of the people who form the ownership group…
