ENGAGED: System design of direct seedings under permanent cover crop without glyphosate

2022

Direct seeding under permanent cover crop (SDCV) corresponds to sow a crop in a multiyear vegetal cover crop(often clover) without soil perturbation. It is an emblematic technique of Conservation Agriculture whose agronomicand environmental interests are multiple because of the special attention paid to soils. However, the issue of weedcontrol and permanent cover crop control is central to SDCV culture systems. The use of non-selective herbicide suchas glyphosate is the most common technical lever for weed and cover crop management. Glyphosate is in the hotseat since the President of France announced its banning from 2023. It becomes necessary to find alternatives for thesustainability of t…

Harnessing the biodiversity value of Central and Eastern European farmland

2015

A large proportion of European biodiversity today depends on habitat provided by low‐intensity farming practices, yet this resource is declining as European agriculture intensifies. Within the European Union, particularly the central and eastern new member states have retained relatively large areas of species‐rich farmland, but despite increased investment in nature conservation here in recent years, farmland biodiversity trends appear to be worsening. Although the high biodiversity value of Central and Eastern European farmland has long been reported, the amount of research in the international literature focused on farmland biodiversity in this region remains comparatively ti…

L'HABITAT DU BRONZE ANCIEN DANS L'EST DIJONNAIS (CÔTE D'OR, BOURGOGNE) : ARCHITECTURE, TERROIR ET TERRITOIRE

2015

The first discoveries concerning the Early Bronze Age in the region of Genlis (Burgundy, Côte d’Or) were madeduring the construction of the A39 motorway, the first major development project to be associated with archaeological monitoring. Excavations made by H. Dartevelle in the early 1990’s revealed two large areas of settlements with two ellipsoidal houses, smaller buildings and satellite structures (Dartevelle 1992). The site of Genlis-Izier, “Le Joannot” remained the only local reference for early Bronze Age habitats until the early 2010’s, when the construction of the L.G.V. Rhin-Rhône considerably updated this data. This article provides a summary of new and existing discoveries, and …

Latvijas Universitātes maģistra studiju programmas "Farmācija" absolventu aptauja

2017

Bakalaura darba „Latvijas Universitātes maģistra studiju programmas „Farmācija” absolventu aptauja” mērķis ir sniegt statistisku apskatu par farmācijas nozari Latvijā, izpētīt farmācijas nozares darba tirgu, noskaidrot LU veselības zinātņu maģistra grāda farmācijā ieguvušo darba gaitas, viedokli par farmācijas nozari. Bakalaura darbs sastāv no četrām nodaļām. Pirmajā nodaļā raksturots nozares tiesiskais regulējums. Otrajā nodaļā sniegts nozares statistikas apskats. Trešajā nodaļā izpētīts farmācijas nozares darba tirgus, sniedzot darba devēju darbības pārskatus, kvalificētā darbaspēka struktūru un dinamiku, kā arī tirgus dalībnieku savstarpējo mijiedarbību. Ceturtajā nodaļā atspoguļoti un a…

Rational backbone redesign of a fructosyl peptide oxidase to widen its active site access tunnel

2020

Fructosyl peptide oxidases (FPOXs) are enzymes currently used in enzymatic assays to measure the concentration of glycated hemoglobin and albumin in blood samples, which serve as biomarkers of diabetes. However, since FPOX are unable to work directly on glycated proteins, current enzymatic assays are based on a preliminary proteolytic digestion of the target proteins. Herein, to improve the speed and costs of the enzymatic assays for diabetes testing, we applied a rational design approach to engineer a novel enzyme with a wider access tunnel to the catalytic site, using a combination of Rosetta design and molecular dynamics simulations. Our final design, L3_35A, shows a significantly wider …
