La realización sustitutiva de la subasta judicial en el Anteproyecto de Código Procesal Civil chileno. Reflexiones a partir de su regulación en la Le…
2008
Speaking of the presentation of the civil procedural draft bill, the author intends to contribute to cover some of the imperfections and omissions related to the regulation ofattachment goods or rights, that come to substitute other traditional means of execution such as the judicative auction or even the so called judicative antichresis; in the light of doctrine, experience and the Spanish Law.
Separation properties of (n, m)-IFS attractors
2017
Abstract The separation properties of self similar sets are discussed in this article. An open set condition for the (n, m)- iterated function system is introduced and the concepts of self similarity, similarity dimension and Hausdorff dimension of the attractor generated by an (n, m) - iterated function system are studied. It is proved that the similarity dimension and the Hausdorff dimension of the attractor of an (n, m) - iterated function system are equal under this open set condition. Further a necessary and sufficient condition for a set to satisfy the open set condition is established.

Non-fragile fuzzy control design for nonlinear time-delay systems
2013
In this paper, a non-fragile fuzzy control design is proposed for a class of nonlinear systems with mixed discrete and distributed time delays. The Takagi and Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy set approach is applied to the modelling of the nonlinear dynamics, and a T-S fuzzy model is constructed, which can represent the nonlinear system. Then, based on the fuzzy linear model, a fuzzy linear controller is developed to stabilize the nonlinear system. The control law is obtained to ensure stochastically exponentially stability in the mean square. The sufficient conditions for the existence of such a control are proposed in terms of certain linear matrix inequalities.
Corporate Governance and Company Law Reform: a German perspective
2005
Corporate crises and international trends in corporate governance have revealed the need for reform, and resulted in a great number of changes in corporate law. In spite of this, the existing legal framework for corporate governance in Germany presents itself reluctant to major changes. The German approach to reform has focused on the improvement of corporate monitoring by the supervisory board. It neither questions the two-tier structure, nor does it reconsider the existing representation of shareholders or other stakeholders under the current form of co-determination. The German Corporate Governance Code represents a new instrument of soft law and its recommendations are likely argued to …
Unraveling the Complexity of Tourist Experience with NFC Technology and Mobile Wallets
2014
By considering the tourist experience as a complex dynamic system, in this paper we depict the traveler as a kybernetes (κυβeρνήτης is the ancient Greek word for ‘sea captain’, ‘steersman’, or ‘governor’) in search of powerful tools to help him or her to obtain directions in the mare magnum of complexity, overcoming the fear of action and taking decisions. We focus our attention on the key role of Near Field Communication technology and mobile wallet as ‘attenuators of complexity’ in the travel and tourism industry.
Single-cell trajectories reconstruction, exploration and mapping of omics data with STREAM
2019
Single-cell transcriptomic assays have enabled the de novo reconstruction of lineage differentiation trajectories, along with the characterization of cellular heterogeneity and state transitions. Several methods have been developed for reconstructing developmental trajectories from single-cell transcriptomic data, but efforts on analyzing single-cell epigenomic data and on trajectory visualization remain limited. Here we present STREAM, an interactive pipeline capable of disentangling and visualizing complex branching trajectories from both single-cell transcriptomic and epigenomic data. We have tested STREAM on several synthetic and real datasets generated with different single-cell techno…
Politics of memory and oblivion. An introduction to the special issue
2019
This editorial sets the context for the special issue on memory and oblivion and introduces the contributions. By interpreting the contemporary uses of the past, the editorial underscores the relevance of the study of memory and oblivion in today’s heated and antagonistic debates. The politics of memory and uses of the past often coincide with efforts of reducing the past to legitimize the current authorities and tend to create new gaps in memory that contribute to the polarisation of societies. The special issue consists of six articles that scrutinise the consequences of the intertwining of memory, oblivion and political power in European countries. Based on two main approaches, the contr…
Updated Search for the Flavor-Changing Neutral-Current Decay D^0 \to {\mu} + {\mu}-
2010
We report on a search for the flavor-changing neutral-current decay D0 \to {\mu}+ {\mu}- in pp collisions at \surd s = 1.96 TeV using 360 pb-1 of integrated luminosity collected by the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. A displaced vertex trigger selects long-lived D0 candidates in the {\mu}+ {\mu}-, {\pi}+{\pi}-, and K-{\pi}+ decay modes. We use the Cabibbo-favored D0 \to K-{\pi}+ channel to optimize the selection criteria in an unbiased manner, and the kinematically similar D0 \to{\pi}+ {\pi}- channel for normalization. We set an upper limit on the branching fraction (D0 --> {\mu}+ {\mu}-) < 2.1 E-7 (3.0 E-7) at the 90% (95%) confidence level.
Quality and competition between public and private firms
2017
We study a multistage, quality-then-price game between a public firm and a private firm. The market consists of a set of consumers who have different quality valuations. The public firm aims to maximize social surplus, whereas the private firm maximizes profit. In the first stage, both firms simultaneously choose qualities. In the second stage, both firms simultaneously choose prices. Consumers’ quality valuations are drawn from a general distribution. Each firm's unit production cost is an increasing and convex function of quality. There are multiple equilibria. In some, the public firm chooses a low quality, and the private firm chooses a high quality. In others, the opposite is true. We …
