Abstract The electrochemical oxidation of organics in paper mill wastewater belonging to Halfa industries (Tunisia) was performed by galvanostatic electrolyses using electro-Fenton (EF) process. The effect of several operating parameters, such as applied current density, electrodes material, air pressure and the presence of sodium chloride (NaCl) was evaluated. In particular, carbon felt (CF), modified carbon felt (MCF) and gas diffusion electrode (GDE) were used as cathode while Ti/IrO2-Ta2O5 and Boron Doped Diamond (BDD) as anode. Klinefelter’s syndrome (KS) is the main cause of hypogonadism and infertility in men and is often related to obesity, metabolic syndrome, and diabetes. The purpose of our real-life observational study was to investigate the metabolic and anthropometric parameters in a population of patients with Klinefelter syndrome compared to a group of healthy age-matched subjects. Plant cells possess much of the molecular machinery necessary for receptor-mediated endocytosis (RME), but this process still awaits detailed characterization. In order to identify a reliable and well-characterized marker to investigate RME in plant cells, we have expressed the human transferrin receptor (hTfR) in Arabidopsis protoplasts. We have found that hTfR is mainly found in endosomal (Ara7- and FM4-64-positive) compartments, but also at the plasma membrane, where it mediates binding and internalization of its natural ligand transferrin (Tfn). The main mechanism of action of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) is the inhibition of cycloxygenases COX-1 and COX-2. During recent years, combined 5-LOX/COX-inhibition, interfering with the biosynthesis of both prostaglandins and leukotrienes (LTs), has emerged as a possibility to avoid side effects related to COX-inhibition. The aim of the present study was to investigate if there is a contribution of mechanisms other than the reduction of inflammatory prostaglandins and leukotrienes to the anti-inflammatory effect of the LOX/COX inhibitor licofelone.
