PO-0779 Which Parameters Are Mandatory In Urinary Tract Infection In Children?
2014
Background The protocol of investigations in urinary tract infection (UTI) in children mandatory includes urianalysis, uroculture, reactive C protein (RCP), blood urea (BUN), renal ultrasonography and scintigraphy. Each one of these has limits to perform in children. Aims To establish the correlations between UTI investigations for argumentation the therapeutic decision. Methods Retrospective study of hospitalised paediatric patients for UTI. The study parameters were: age, symptoms, RCP, BUN, uroculture, renal ultrasonography, urinanalysis (leukocytes, nitrites, pH, density, proteins, erythrocytes, ascorbic acid-AA). Spontanfrakturen im Säuglingsalter durch Kupfermangel
1989
A preterm infant of 25 weeks’ gestation developed at 4 months of age an “impressed” fracture of the right femur. In another preterm infant of 27 weeks’ gestation, multiple fractures of the radius and metacarpalia were observed at age 5 months. Also a full term twin showed multiple rib fractures. Additional radiological findings were: generalized skeletal osteopenia, cupping and fraying of the metaphyses of the long bones, and subperiosteal new bone formation. Further symptoms were repeated apnoic attacks, anemia, neutropenia, and low serum levels of both copper and coeruloplasmin. Alimentary copper deficiency was diagnosed and oral copper substitution (CuCl2 1,2–2,0 µmol/kg/d) initiated. Th…
Metastatic Versus Osteoporotic Vertebral Fractures on MRI: A Blinded, Multicenter, and Multispecialty Observer Agreement Evaluation.
2020
Background: MRI is assumed to be valid for distinguishing metastatic vertebral fractures (MVFs) from osteoporotic vertebral fractures (OVFs). This study assessed (1) concordance between the image-based diagnosis of MVF versus OVF and the reference (biopsy or follow-up of >6 months), (2) interobserver and intraobserver agreement on key imaging findings and the diagnosis of MVF versus OVF, and (3) whether disclosing a patient’s history of cancer leads to variations in diagnosis, concordance, or agreement. Patients and Methods: This retrospective cohort study included clinical data and imaging from 203 patients with confirmed MVF or OVF provided to 25 clinicians (neurosurgeons, radiologists…

Serum sIL-2-R levels were measured in 28 sarcoidosis patients at multiple time points before, during, and after therapy, with a mean follow-up time of 10.2 +/- 5.2 months, and the results compared with the clinical activity of the disease. Before therapy, 20 out of 24 episodes with active disease exhibited elevated levels of sIL-2-R (918 +/- 362 U/ml). In inactive disease after tapering off corticoid therapy the sIL-2-R levels were 453 +/- 274 U/ml. Disease activity under therapy also correlated with sIL-2-R serum levels. 23 out of 29 episodes with signs of activity under therapy had elevated sIL-2-R levels (808 +/- 409 U/ml). Only three of 28 patients in whom disease activity ceased after …

Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Breastfeeding as a Factor in the Prevention of Breast Cancer
2020
Background: As cancer is one of the main causes of fatal illnesses in the world, and breast cancer is responsible for an elevated number of deaths in women, it is important to implement measures to prevent this disease. Method: In order to assess the influence of breastfeeding in preventing breast cancer in women, forteen prospective cohort articles are included in this study, and their methodological quality has been assessed through the Newcastle Ottawa quality assessment scale cohort studies. After determining the risk of bias for each case study, those with fewer systematic errors and therefore greater validity, have been selected to demonstrate the relationship they propose exists bet…
