Non-linear interactions of femtosecond laser pulses with graphene : photo-oxidation, imaging and photodynamics

This thesis presents a study focused on interactions of femtosecond laser pulses with graphene, a one atom thick carbon membrane. Graphene, which exhibits exceptional electronic and optoelectronic properties, could provide considerable advantage over current silicon-based electronics. Graphene alone, being semi-metal, is not sufficient for electronic applications, but requires modification. For this, a set of methods for modifying and measuring the properties of graphene was developed. With the perspective of making graphene a suitable component for electronics, optoelectronics or photonics, ultrashort laser pulses were used for drawing patterns on graphene. Electrical measurements of femtosecond laser treated graphene

Tutkielman pääasiallinen tavoite oli valmistaa sähköisiin mittauksiin sopivia grafeenilaitteita ja tutkia femtosekuntilaserkäsittelyn vaikutusta grafeenin sähköisiin ominaisuuksiin. Tutkielmassa käsitellään grafeenin valmistamista kemiallisella kaasufaasipinnoituksella, laitegeometrian määrittelyä ja käsittelemättömän, sekä femtosekuntilaserilla käsitellyn grafeenin sähköisiä mittauksia. Evaluation of a new nomogram for Ferrara ring segment implantation in keratoconus

AIM: To evaluate the short-term clinical outcomes of Ferrara rings in keratoconus using an optimized nomogram developed after several years of research and retrospective analysis of clinical data. METHODS: This prospective longitudinal non-comparative clinical trial evaluated 88 eyes of 88 patients (age 18-62y) with keratoconus diagnosis from two Spanish centers. Ferrara ring segment (AJL Ophthalmic) implantation was performed in all cases, using the mechanical procedure in 25 eyes (28.4%) and a femtosecond laser-assisted procedure in 63 eyes (71.6%). VisuMax®femtosecond laser for corneal refractive surgery

Femtosecond lasers are increasingly present in ophthalmologic surgical theaters for a variety of reasons. These include faster and better visual outcomes, increased accuracy and predictability for corneal flap thickness in laser in situ keratomileusis procedures. Recent applications of modern femtosecond lasers have broadened the range of uses: keratoplasty, intrastromal segment insertion and even glaucoma and presbyopia surgery. Femtosecond‑LASIK outcomes using the VisuMax®‑MEL® 80 platform for hyperopia and hyperopic astigmatism refractive surgery

The present study evaluated the efficacy, the safety and the predictability of the Femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (Femto-LASIK) procedure for hyperopia and hyperopic astigmatism. We retrospectively analyzed the postoperative 12-month evolution of 593 eyes with hyperopia and hyperopic astigmatism that underwent Femto-LASIK treatment. The procedure was predictable and effective. No eye lost 2 lines of corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), demonstrating a safety profile of the procedure. Nine percent of the eyes gained at least one line of CDVA. The accuracy of the spherical equivalent after 12 months was 74% within ±1.0 diopter (D) of emmetropia. The refractive outcomes …

Octave Spanning Supercontinuum in Titanium Dioxide Waveguides

International audience; We report on the experimental generation of an octave-spanning supercontinuum in a 2.2 cm-long titanium dioxide optical waveguide with two zero dispersion wavelengths. The resulting on-chip supercontinuum reaches the visible wavelength range as well as the mid-infrared region by using a femtosecond fiber laser pump at 1.64 µm.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the irregularity of the posterior corneal surface and intrastromal dissection during the preparation of donor tissue for Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK) using a curved interface femtosecond laser and microkeratome.
