This article aims to analyze the relationship between Antonio Negri and the political and philosophical categories of Antonio Gramsci. It is my intention to resume, from the Sixties of the last century to nowadays, the stragegical uses of Gramsci’s thought by Negri. According to me, we can divide four periods in the theoretical framework of Negri. In the first one, Gramsci is an author incompatible with the workerist strategy of class struggle. In the second one, there is a sort of use of Gramsci against Gramsci. Pointendly, Negri tries to subtract the author of the Prison Notebooks from the prerogatives of the Pci. There is growing interest in the potential of grassroots innovations for the transition towards more just and sustainable societies. Nevertheless, there is lack of clear normative discussion regarding these processes. The paper strives to propose and test a framework that enables an analysis of how and in which sense specific grassroots innovation processes may be contributing to the construction of more just societies. To this end, we connect elements of the multi-level perspective on sociotechnical transitions (frequently used in the analysis of grassroots innovations) with elements of the capability approach, which offers a multi-dimensional perspective to justice. This paper explores Husserl’s late manuscripts in order to sketch a phenomenological description of drives and the dimension of passive constitution that belongs to them. Although this topic touches upon psychological issues, it will be shown that a specifically phenomenological approach allows us to recognize the transcendental significance of instincts. By means of the phenomenological reduction, drives reveal a peculiar subject, the ‘original child’, which is described not as a figure of developmental psychology but as a transcendental subject pre-forming the way the world appears to us.
