Il duplice movimento contrastante. Pace, conflitto e progresso in Jacques Maritain
2022
The article develops an analysis of Maritain's reflections on peace, in particular those carried out between 1946 and 1966. In the three parts of the contribution, the problems relating to the construction of a lasting peace among peoples are addressed. The war in Ukraine has forcefully returned to stir European consciences. The ideal position that Maritain assigns to the project of a world government through a supra-national democratic entity is remarkable. Project based on the spiritual and moral development of human conscience and on the will of peoples. The uselessness of war is linked to Maritain's Christian vision of history, in connection with the personalistic foundation of politics.
Pensare contro: Hegel e Arendt
2011
The Scope of Movement. Psychological and Philosophical Investigations
2020
This issue of the Gestalt Theory Journal presents the second part of the project dedicated to Motion in Experience and aims at exploring the intertwining between phenomenological and experimental psychological perspectives on movement and motion, thereby highlighting the relevance of both these perspectives for current research in the field of Gestalt theory
The Animal Subject. Explorations on the Edge of Subjectivity
2021
Despite their undeniable connection to the body and its physiological processes, the phenomenological account of drives differentiates them from both instinctual behaviour and merely biological forces. They design a characteristic dimension of the personal grasp of the world, necessary for our meaningful orientation in all given situations. My claim is that Husserl’s interpretation of drives presents them not as centrifugal forces, but as centripetal strivings, contributing to the unitary constitution of the person. The conflicting interaction of drives lets emerge the animal subjectivity whose unity is given by a unique style of wishing and striving. The final question is, therefore, how t…
Desafiaments interdisciplinars i socials de la psicologia moral contemporània: obertura i reflexivitat
2017
The Centered Reality
2016
This paper discusses the criticism of naturalism based on the irreducibility of first-person-perspective facts. This critique considers naturalism insufficient since it proposes the view of reality as a centerless dimension. However, simply reintegrating subjective facts into a naturalistic view of reality we eventually produce a split situation in which conscious and self-conscious forms of life require a special consideration, thus appearing as separated from the whole of reality. In order to overcome what turns out to be a dualistic interpretation of reality, this paper considers Helmuth Plessner’s non-naturalistic approach. It elaborates the notion of positionality and aspectivity as ch…
Eight Questions for the Speakers
2019
In this paper, we raise a few questions for Bartosz Brozek, Monica Bucciarelli and Philip Johnson-Laird. The questions we ask to Bucciarelli and Johnson-Laird concern the nature of the “sense of correctness” which is at the heart of our normative judgments and reasoning, and the status of the laws of logic relating to mental models. Our questions to Brozek concern the distinction he traces between rudimentary and abstract rules, the role of language in normative behaviour, and the role of mental simulation in the understanding of abstract rules.
Dominio razzista ed etica del passante. L'antropologia critica di Achille Mbembe
2020
This paper discusses Achille Mbembe’s critique of racial segregation taken as the descriptive and theoretical ground for a critical anthropology. Mbembe’s most important works On the Postcolony (2000), Critique de la Raison Nègre (2013), and Politiques de l’intimité (2016) are read as a coherent system aimed at unfolding the philosophical meaning of different forms of racial segregation. Race is outlined as a principle of separation whose broader meaning lies in forcing the multi-layered human experience into rigid categories, thereby achieving the objectifying of humans. Mbembe’s books also show the sharpening of a peculiar methodological approach aimed at reconciling a universal philosoph…
Il sigillo spezzato. Moderno e antimoderno nell’interpretazione habermasiana di Nietzsche
2022
Starting from the analysis of the concept of modernity, this contribution focuses on Habermas' critique of Nietzsche. In particular on the idea that Nietzsche is a break point with modernity and the basis of the post-modern. On the line of defense of modernity and its universalistic normative contents, Habermas re-proposes the transcendental in an anti-relativistic sense. The explosive power of "philosophy with the hammer" and the "total critique of reason" undermine the emancipatory demands of modernity with conservative effects. According to Habermas, the radical critique of truth demolishes itself and the claim to validity. The modern, on the other hand, can be reformed through a model o…
La ragione “contraddittoria” in Simone Weil
1999
