Artikkelissa tarkastellaan pitkittäistutkimukseen tähtäävän etnografisen kenttätyön esitutkimusvaihetta (2015–2016) Suomenlinnassa. Elävä Suomenlinna -tutkimuksen esitutkimusta ohjasi kiinnostus siihen, millaisia vaikutuksia Unescon maailmanperintöstatuksella on 25 vuoden aikana ollut paikallisten asukkaiden ja yhteisöjen elämään. Kansainväliset kulttuuriperintösopimukset korostavat yhteisöjen roolia kulttuuriperinnön suojelijoina, käyttäjinä ja eteenpäin välittäjinä. The balance between warm and hot (>1 keV) electron density and their losses from the magnetic confinement system of an Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Source (ECRIS) plasma is considered to be one of the main factors determining the rate of the high charge state ion production. Influence of axial mirror ratios on the kinetic instability threshold in electron cyclotron resonance ion source plasma

International audience; Electron Cyclotron Resonance (ECR) ion source plasmas are prone to kinetic instabilities. The onset of the instabilities manifests as emission of microwaves, bursts of electrons expelled from the plasma volume, and the collapse of the extracted highly charged ion (HCI) currents. Consequently, the instabilities limit the HCI performance of ECR ion sources by limiting the parameter space available for ion source optimization. The use of composites based on fibre-reinforced polymers (FRPs) to strengthen masonry columns has become a common practice in the last decades. FRPs, however, exhibit some shortcomings when applied to masonry substrates, due to the organic nature of their matrix. Opinion dynamics, stubbornness and mean-field games

This paper studies opinion dynamics and stubbornness using mean-field game theory. Assuming an initial exponential density function and affine control policies we analyze under what conditions the Fokker-Planck equation returns an exponential density function over the horizon. Consensus and clusters formation are also studied.

Dynamic tuning of the director field in liquid crystal shells using block copolymers

When an orientationally ordered system, like a nematic liquid crystal (LC), is confined on a self-closing spherical shell, topological constraints arise with intriguing consequences that depend critically on how the LC is aligned in the shell. We demonstrate reversible dynamic tuning of the alignment, and thereby the topology, of nematic LC shells stabilized by the nonionic amphiphilic block copolymer Pluronic F127. Deep in the nematic phase, the director (the average molecule orientation) is tangential to the interface, but upon approaching the temperature TNI of the nematic– isotropic transition, the director realigns to normal.
