The EU regulatory regime and employers’ cross-border recruitment practices complicate unions’ ability to represent increasingly diverse and transnationally mobile workers. Even in institutional contexts where the industrial relations structure and labour law are favourable, such as the Netherlands, unions struggle with maintaining labour standards for these workers. Chinese immigrants’ occupational well-being in Finland : the role of paternalistic leadership

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to enhance the understanding of paternalistic leadership behaviour in the Finnish organisational context by investigating its relationship with Chinese immigrant employees’ occupational well-being. Design/methodology/approach This research was based on a survey of 117 Chinese immigrants working in Finland. The snowball sampling method was adopted in the present research. Populations at species' range margins are expected to show lower genetic diversity than populations at the core of the range. Yet, long-lived, widespread tree species are expected to be resistant to genetic impoverishment, thus showing comparatively high genetic diversity within populations and low differentiation among populations. Trends of organochlorine compounds in Finnish inland waters

Caged common lake mussels (Anodonta piscinalis) have been used in the monitoring of organochlorine compounds in pulp and paper mill recipient watercourses of Finland annually from 1984 to 1998. Statistically significant decreasing trends of chlorophenols and chloroguaiacols originating from chlorobleaching were observed in all recipients in parallel with the decreasing discharges from the mills. Metabolites of chlorophenols, chloroanisoles and chloroveratroles had no or slightly increasing trends. Elevated PCB concentrations were measured in four watercourses. Abstract High molecular mass fractions of lignin and humic compounds in sediments and waters downstream of a pulp mill were characterized applying pyrolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The results were compared to those obtained using reversed phase HPLC on the cupric oxide oxidation products. The chromatographic data of both pyrolysis and cupric oxide oxidation were also subjected to the principal component analysis (PCA). The sediment samples and fractions obtained by ultrafiltration of river water samples were freeze dried prior to characterization.
