In this paper, are presented the preliminary results of the A.I.D.A. (Auto Immunity: Diagnosis Assisted by computer) project which is developed in the frame of the cross-border cooperation Italy-Tunisia. According to the main objectives of this project, a database of interpreted Indirect ImmunoFluorescence (IIF) images on HEp 2 cells is being collected thanks to the contribution of Italian and Tunisian experts involved in routine diagnosis of autoimmune diseases. Abstract Despite Lead Acid Battery (LAB) is the oldest electrochemical energy storage system, diffusion in the emerging sectors of technological interest is inhibited by its drawbacks. The principal ones are low energy density and negative plate sulphating on high rate discharging. In this work, it is shown the possibility of overcoming such drawbacks by using nanostructured lead as a negative electrode. Lead nanowires (NWs) were fabricated by electrochemical deposition in template, which is an easy, cheap, and easily scalable process. Inverse problem for tripotential measures in the study of buried cavities

This paper presents a solution to the inverse electrical problem for the interpretation of apparent resistivity anomalies due to empty buried cavities of quasi-spherical shape when tripotential measures are carried out. The anomalies of the apparent resistivities ra,rb andrg,and the composed resistivitiesrmand rt were previously calculated for a sufficient class of spherical models of resistivity anomalies. L'efficacia dei trattamenti normalmente impiegati per proteggere e/o consolidare materiali lapidei può essere valutata mediante la tecnica di imaging a risonanza magnetica nucleare (MRI), che consente di studiare in modo quantitativo, non invasivo, non distruttivo, la cinetica di assorbimento capillare dell'acqua. In this thesis a study, both experimental and computational, on saccharide–based biopreservation is presented, with a particular focus on the role of water in the process. Experiments and simulations have been performed on model systems constituted by a protein (myoglobin) embedded in amorphous solid saccharide–water matrices, which may contain also cosolutes to alter their properties. The optimization of the procedures of Neutron Capture Therapy (NCT) for cancer treatments involves research for beam characterization. One major issue for this therapy is the reliable dosimetric determination of the various (neutronic and photonic) components of the employed beam. Identification of passive layers on Co in Alkaline solutions by photocurrent spectroscopy

The photoelectrochemical behavior of passive films on Co has been studied as a function of the polarizing voltage and electrolyte composition. Passive layers formed at 0 V (standard hydrogen electrode, SHE) in 0.1 M NaOH consisted of Co(OH) 2 , whose bandgap value has been found to be 1.85 eV. Higher bandgap values (2.75 eV) have been measured for passive films formed in borate buffer at 0 V (SHE), which are mainly consist of CoO. The Eg values have been related to the film composition on the basis of a correlation between the bandgap of passive films and the electronegativity of their constituents.

Protein aggregation processes are complex phenomena often involved in the etiology of several pathologies. It is now assessed that all proteins, in suitable conditions, may undergo supramolecular assembly. Aggregation pathways are known to be controlled by solution conditions which regulate protein-protein and protein-solvent interactions affecting binding mechanisms, morphology and inherent toxicity of the aggregate species.
