Adapting cropping system to delay herbicide resistance. A simulation study

2014

Weeds have evolved resistance to numerous herbicides, and their management becomes increasingly expensive and difficult. Here we (1) adapted the existing weed dynamics simulation model AlomSys to account for target-site resistance to acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase (ACCase)-inhibiting herbicides in Alopecurus myosuroides by integrating wild and mutant target-site resistant (TSR) genotypes, mutations, fitness costs and seed immigration, and (2) ran simulations testing different crop management practices for their ability to delay resistance evolution and/or control of TSR plants. Simulations of an oilseed rape/winter wheat/winter barley rotation showed that TSR plants exceeded 1 plant/m² appro…

No performance reduction at the present northern edge of Ambrosia artemisiifolia L. invasion range

2014

Plant populations at range edges may exhibit reduction of performances and fitness. In the case of biological invasions, such a reduction could be associated with a slowing down of the spread and explain the non-naturalization of a species outside its present invasion range. Common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.) is an ideal model to investigate such processes, since it is invasive in France but not naturalized in northern countries, such as Belgium and the Netherlands. In this study, we test if the performances of ragweed populations vary among different invasion zones. Three populations were selected in each of four invasion zones in Western Europe: 1) French invasion area; 2) northe…

Soil microbial diversity effects on primary production and symbiotic interactions

2013

SPEEAEcolDurGenoSolGEAPSI; The importance of telluric microorganisms linked together by trophic exchanges with plants, that sustain all ecosystems through primary production, is known. However, the role of soil microbial diversity for primary production remains controversial. A diversity decreasing was achieved, by inoculating a sterilized soil with serial dilutions of a suspension from the same non-sterilized soil, to determine the consequences of microbial diversity erosion on the growth and fitness of three plant species more or less dependent on symbionts, Medicago truncatula, Brachypodium distachyon and Arabidopsis thaliana. The results showed that the impact of microbial diversity dec…

Reproducibility of pulse wave velocity and augmentation index derived from non-invasive occlusive oscillometric tonometry analysis in adolescents

2019

The aim of this study was to investigate the short‐term reproducibility of aortic pulse wave velocity (PWVao) and augmentation index (AIx%) assessed by the non‐invasive oscillometric device. Altogether of 55 (19 boys, 36 girls) adolescents 16–19‐years‐of‐age participated in the study. PWVao and AIx% were measured during the same laboratory visit at 2 min intervals using the Arteriograph™ device. Peak oxygen uptake (V̇O2peak) was assessed by the maximal exercise test on a cycle ergometer and body fat percentage by bioelectrical impedance analysis. We studied reproducibility using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC), coefficient variation with the root‐means‐square method expressed as p…

A WEB-BASED SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM ON ADOLESCENTS’ LIFESTYLES AND OBESITY PREVENTION: ASSO-FTB PRELIMINARY FINDINGS. THE ASSO PROJECT.

2013

The ASSO Project (Adolescents and Surveillance System for Obesity prevention), financed by the Italian Ministry of Health, aims to develop a surveillance system structured on adolescents lifestyles. It is a prospective study with online data collection, simultaneous descriptive data analysis and real time report. The ASSO-Toolkit is made of questionnaires, forms and a fitness test battery. The aims of this study is to evaluate the predictive validity, the criterion validity and the reliability of ASSO-FTB, in other words to assess how well the system operates to meet its objectives. The ASSO-FTB consists of 20mSRT (Shuttle Run Test) to estimate cardiorespiratory fitness, the handgrip streng…

Kehitysvammaisten aikuisten kestävyyskunnon taso ja muutos ikääntyessä : kahden kävelytestin vertaaminen

2015

Eveliina Keinonen (2015).

Znaczenie rehabilitacji w ocenie poziomu sprawności i wydolności tlenowej pensjonariuszek Domów Pomocy Społecznej

2017

Cel pracy. Celem prac była ocena wpływu stosowanej rehabilitacji u pensjonariuszek Domu Pomocy Społecznej na poziom sprawności i wydolności aerobowej. Materiał i metodyka. Przebadano 17 kobiet uczęszczających i 13 nieuczęszczających na zajęcia rehabilitacji. Przedział wieku badanych wynosił 80-84 lata. Do oceny wykorzystano test SPPB oraz 6-minutowy test marszu. Wyniki. Wszystkie badane cechy służące do oceny poziomu sprawności wydolności aerobowej różnią się istotnie między dwiema badanymi grupami. Lepsze wyniki uzyskały osoby z grupy uczęszczającej na zajęcia rehabilitacji. Wnioski. 1. Systematycznie prowadzone zajęcia rehabilitacji ruchowej u badanych kobiet powodują uzyskanie wyższego p…
