Can persistent Epstein-Barr virus infection induce Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as a Pavlov reflex of the immune response?
2012
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a protracted illness condition (lasting even years) appearing with strong flu symptoms and systemic defiances by the immune system. Here, by means of statistical mechanics techniques, we study the most widely accepted picture for its genesis, namely a persistent acute mononucleosis infection, and we show how such infection may drive the immune system toward an out-of-equilibrium metastable state displaying chronic activation of both humoral and cellular responses (a state of full inflammation without a direct "causes-effect" reason). By exploiting a bridge with a neural scenario, we mirror killer lymphocytes $T_K$ and $B$ cells to neurons and helper lymphocytes $…
On the response of flax fiber reinforced composites under salt-fog/dry conditions: Reversible and irreversible performances degradation
2022
Abstract Despite their scarce resistance to humid or wet conditions, natural fiber reinforced composites (NFRCs) seem to be able to partially recover their performances under discontinuous exposition to marine environment. To investigate this peculiarity, flax fiber reinforced composite was at first subjected to salt-fog spray condition at 35 °C for 15 and 30 days, respectively, and then stored in ‘‘dry” condition (i.e., 50% R.H. and 22 °C) between 0 and 21 days. The performances evolution was evaluated through flexural tests, water uptake and contact angle measurements. Moreover, the morphology of fractured mechanical samples was examined by using 3D optical microscope and scanning electro…
Microbial diversity in a thermophilic aerobic biofilm process: analysis by length heterogeneity PCR (LH-PCR).
2003
A two-stage pilot-scale thermophilic aerobic suspended carrier biofilm process (SCBP) was set up for the on-site treatment of pulp and paper mill whitewater lining. The microbial diversity in this process was analyzed by length heterogeneity analysis of PCR-amplified 16S ribosomal DNA. The primer pair selected for PCR amplification was first evaluated by a computational analysis of fragment lengths in ten main phylogenetical eubacterial groups. The fragment contained the first third of the 16S rRNA gene, which was shown to vary naturally between 465 and 563 bp in length. The length heterogeneity analysis of polymerase chain reaction (LH-PCR) profile of the biomass attached to carrier elemen…
SuperOffice API izmantošana lietotņu veikala lietotnes veidošanai
2019
Kvalifikācijas darbā ir izstrādāta SuperOffice CRM integrācija datu analītikas programmatūrai flex.bi. Tā nodrošina iespēju SuperOffice CRM lietotājiem apstrādāt savus datus, veidot atskaites ar flex.bi piedāvātajiem rīkiem. Sistēmas pamatā ir SuperOffice CRM datu spoguļošana un flex.bi sistēmai izstrādātā SuperOffice integrācija, kas pārveido spoguļdatu bāzē esošos datus dimensijās kuras spēj apstrādāt flex.bi sistēmas eazyBI kodols.
El mito de la historia del arte
2005
Kant and Goethe
1972
In this paper we want to consider the inner connection between Kant and Goethe; therefore we want to emphasize primarily aspects they have in common rather than points of opposition. Goethe says for example about Kant’s Critique of Pure Reason that this “voice has brought a great advancement,” in so far as through it man has been able “to awaken concerning himself,” concerning his “highest faculty of reason.” Goethe was above all impressed, however, by the Critique of Judgment and he confessed: “The great main ideas of this work were analogous to my own previous ideas.” It was for him “an exceedingly great deed... that Kant placed art and nature in his Critique of Judgment side by side” so …
Biobased Epoxy Resin by Electrochemical Modification of Tall Oil Fatty Acids
2019
A biobased epoxy resin was prepared from tall oil fatty acids (TOFAs), a byproduct of the pulping industry. As free carboxylic acids compromise resin stability, TOFA was subjected to non-Kolbe decarboxylation to give alkenes upon loss of CO2. Thereby, the degree of unsaturation is significantly increased. This electrosynthetic protocol using an undivided cell setup and inexpensive graphite electrodes in a galvanostatic operation mode was scaled to a 1.5 L reactor, making use of electric current as a green and waste-free reagent. Simple, cost-efficient epoxidation using oxone subsequently gives an epoxy resin of low viscosity. Curing with anhydrides yields thermoset materials. Dynamic mechan…
dSDiVN: A Distributed Software-Defined Networking Architecture for Infrastructure-Less Vehicular Networks
2017
In the last few years, the emerging network architecture paradigm of Software-Defined Networking (SDN), has become one of the most important technology to manage large scale networks such as Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs). Recently, several works have shown interest in the use of SDN paradigm in VANETs. SDN brings flexibility, scalability and management facility to current VANETs. However, almost all of proposed Software-Defined VANET (SDVN) architectures are infrastructure-based. This paper will focus on how to enable SDN in infrastructure-less vehicular environments. For this aim, we propose a novel distributed SDN-based architecture for uncovered infrastructure-less vehicular scenari…

Review of information and communication technologies for smart micro-grid automation
2017
The growing challenges of Smart Micro-Grid can only be met if secure and fast information and communication technology (ICT) solutions are developed. In this paper, some of the ICT techniques are reviewed for smart micro-grid automation. Firstly, an overview of the role of ICT in grid distribution is explained with respect to electricity value chain in power distribution. Further, each domain in the value chain is analyzed with respect to ICT applications in power generation, transmission, distribution and consumption. ICT stands as a prominent driving force to enhance trustworthiness, security, and productivity of the power distribution through information exchange, regulated generation, d…
