HIGH-RESOLUTION PALAEONVIRONMENTAL RECONSTRUCTION OF ODP HOLE 963D (SICILY CHANNEL) DURING THE LAST DEGLACIATION BASED ON CALCAREOUS NANNOFOSSILS

Abstract A palaeoenvironmental reconstruction of Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) Hole 963D (Sicily Channel) has been obtained on the basis of quantitative abundance fluctuations in the calcareous nannofossil assemblages. The studied hole is characterized by a very high sedimentary resolution and covers the last ca. 20 kyr. A new palaeoclimatic curve, based on the Gephyrocapsa muellerae/Upper Photic Zone (UPZ) group ratio, permitted the detection of the rapid climatic fluctuations that characterized the last deglaciation. Con el objetivo de contribuir al conocimiento de los ecosistemas naturales del país, se determinó las características edáficas y la composición florística del bosque estacionalmente seco (La Menta, 04º 43' 55" LS y 80º 04' 55" LO, provincia de Piura y Timbes, 04º 44' 58" LS y 80º 03' 33" LO, provincia de Ayabaca), ambos en la región Piura, Perú. El área de estudio abarcó una extensión aproximada de 6 000 hectáreas en un rango altitudinal entre 350 m a 1 350 m. En cada bosque se muestrearon 5 transectos de 10 x 50 m a intervalos de 20 m, sumando un total de 2 500 m². Abstract Incorporation of a priori defined plant associations into remote sensing products is a major challenge that has only recently been confronted by the remote sensing community. We present an approach to map the spatial distribution of such associations by using plant indicator values (IVs) for salinity, moisture and nutrients as an intermediate between spectral reflectance and association occurrences.
