Contribution to the study of spray formation
2012
The work of this thesis aims to provide and validate tools useful to study and understand the phenomena involved in the injection of fuel, mainly focused on intra-flow injector. These tools are numeric and simulate the formation of a spray. A first part focuses on zero-dimensional modelling. Models which predict these following characteristics of spray like the spray angle, the spray penetration or the liquid length are compared with experimental data. The conclusions are that zero-dimensional modelling provides good results very quickly in some cases. Although, a better understanding of the influence of cavitation on the spray, which requires an understanding of the intra-flow injector, co…
Mixed Titanium–Hafnium Chloridometallate Complexes
2007
The addition of either NEt 3 BzCl or [Ph 3 PNPPh 3 ]Cl (1 equiv. chloride per metal) to a 1:1 mixture of HfCl 4 and TiCl 3 in SOCl 2 results in Ti oxidation and leads to the corresponding salts of the [TiHfCl 10 ] 2- ion. A solution IR investigation in the v(M-Cl) region indicates that this ion is in equilibrium with the homodimetallic [Ti 2 Cl 10 ] 2- and [Hf 2 Cl 10 ] 2- ions. An X-ray study of the NEt 3 Bz + salt reveals an edge-sharing bioctahedral dianion sitting on a crystallographic inversion centre. The crystal is a solid solution of different species with compositional disorder at the metal site, each metal position having the occupancy Ti 0.685 Hf 0.315 . The M-M and M-Cl distance…
THE INFLUENCE OF TOOL STIFFNESS OF THE LIFETIME OF THE INSERTS IN INTERRUPTED CUTTING OPERATIONS
1989
ABSTRACT In the present paper the influence exerted by the stiffness of the tool-workpiece system under working conditions on tool life up to the fracture of carbide inserts in interrupted cutting is investigated. It is shown how, with the increase in compliance of the system, there is a corresponding increase in the average tool life of the insert which is greater the lesser the cutting speed. The results of tests carried out indicate as a possible cause the amount of damage evident in the successive phase of tool engagement with the workpiece. It was observed how, in this phase, the tool, vibrating at the same rate as the toolholder produces alternations in the cutting force. This effect …
Data mining-based statistical analysis of biological data uncovers hidden significance: clustering Hashimoto’s thyroiditis patients based on the resp…
2014
The pathogenesis of Hashimoto's thyroiditis includes autoimmunity involving thyroid antigens, autoantibodies, and possibly cytokines. It is unclear what role plays Hsp60, but our recent data indicate that it may contribute to pathogenesis as an autoantigen. Its role in the induction of cytokine production, pro- or anti-inflammatory, was not elucidated, except that we found that peripheral blood mononucleated cells (PBMC) from patients or from healthy controls did not respond with cytokine production upon stimulation by Hsp60 in vitro with patterns that would differentiate patients from controls with statistical significance. This "negative” outcome appeared when the data were pooled and ana…

Stimulation of Fe-S cluster insertion into apoFNR by Escherichia coli glutaredoxins 1, 2 and 3 in vitro.
2004
Abstract The oxygen sensor fumarate nitrate reductase regu-lator (FNR) of Escherichia coli contains in the active (anaerobic)state a [4Fe–4S] 2þ cluster which is lost after exposure to O 2 .Inaerobically prepared apoFNR, or in FNR obtained by treatmentof [4Fe–4S] FNR with O 2 in vitro, intramolecular cysteinedisulfides are found, including the cysteine residues which serveas ligands for the Fe–S cluster. It is shown here that thereconstitution of [4Fe–4S] FNR from this form of aerobicapoFNR was preceded by a long lag phase when glutathione wasused as the reducing agent. Addition of E. coli glutaredoxins(Grx) 1, 2 or 3 decreased the lag phase greatly and stimulatedthe reconstitution rate slig…

Organisations de l'économie sociale et solidaire : quelle théorie de la gouvernance ?
2012
A major aim for cooperatives is to become the model of stakeholders' organizations while keeping profitable. This supposes to resolve the three following points: to ensure an efficient management of resources which makes it possible to carry out transactions at a cost lower than that which would take place on the market; to design mechanisms of corporate governance allowing expression and implementation of stakeholders' interests and expectations; to implement mechanisms of control allowing to evaluate the action of top executives, particularly regarding satisfaction of expressed stakeholders expectations.
Parai mēlam music in Jaffna Tamil culture, Sri Lanka: an ethnomusicological study
2016
Parai mēlam (a double-headed cylindrical drum played with two sticks) music occupies a significant position in Jaffna Tamil culture, Sri Lanka. This is an area which is worthy of scrutiny with regard to its emergence, development, uniqueness, position, performance, changes and continuity. In world drum tradition, parai mēlam music tradition has a long historical explanation, but unfortunately this performing art has become a diminishing culture due to various factors. These factors vary in the context of caste, culture and religious, rituals which are key spheres of Jaffna Tamil culture. The major objective of this study is to examine the position and placement of parai mēlam music in Tamil…
Locking Reconstruction Double Plating of Distal Humeral Fractures: How Many Screws in the Distal Ulnar Column Segment in A3 Fracture Provide Superior…
2009
Objectives: Two 90-degree configurations of locking reconstruction plates with different numbers of screws in the distal ulnar column segment of distal extra-articular humeral fractures with metaphyseal comminution (A3) were biomechanically investigated. Methods: Eight pairs of fresh-frozen human humeri were used. For paired comparison, the humeri were divided into 2 randomized groups. In both groups, double-plate osteosyntheses with locking reconstruction plates were performed in 90-degree configurations. In group 1, the posteriorly placed radial column plate exceeded the capitellum and the ulnar column plate extended into the ulnar sulcus. The ulnar plate was molded around the medial epic…
