In the wake of the historical tradition of landscape architecture, the architect Gianni Pirrone (Palermo, 1924-2004) understood the need to look at urban greenery as a figure and not as a background, or frame of buildings and neighbourhoods. Pirrone consigns to an imminent future - a time that escapes our eyes today - the need for a new relationship between ecological reserves, gardens, residual areas and the city. Il volume raccoglie una attenta e multidisciplinare analisi del paesaggio di Pantelleria candidandolo al Registro dei Paesaggi Rurali Storici italiani. Il paesaggio della pietra a secco dell'isola di Pantelleria studiato nelle sue componenti paesistico-ambientali testimonia come le difficili condizioni ambientali abbiano determinato, nel tempo, lo sviluppo di tecniche colturali ingegnose producendo un paesaggio straordinario di grande valenza identitaria. Un attento studio degli aspetti pianificatori evidenzia infine, la necessità del riconoscimento nazionale che possa avviare uno sviluppo rispettoso della tutela dell’unicità del paesaggio pantesco.

I paesaggi dell’agricoltura tradizionale sono generati dell’incontro tra caratteri naturali, forza creativa e ingegno dell’uomo e corrispondono al risultato di un progetto collettivo che ha misurato la necessità del produrre con le risorse native disponibili e con i caratteri dell’ambiente. Parlare, oggi, di paesaggi tradizionali non sempre risulta semplice e altrettanto difficoltoso appare definere una metodologia di identificazione e successiva gestione. Il contributo approfondisce la definizione di una metodologia di analisi multidisciplinare e integrata capace di restituire un quadro regionale e nazionale dei paesaggi agrari tradizionali.

Monitoring ecosystem functions in forests is a priority in a climate change scenario, as climate-induced events may initially alter the functions more than slow-changing attributes, such as biomass. The ecosystem functional properties (EFPs) are quantities that characterize key ecosystem processes. They can be derived by point observations of gas and energy exchanges between the ecosystems and the atmosphere that are collected globally at FLUXNET flux tower sites and upscaled at ecosystem level. Vehicular Social Networks (VSNs) is an emerging communication paradigm, derived by merging the concepts of Online Social Networks (OSNs) and Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs). Due to the lack of robust authentication mechanisms, social-based vehicular applications are vulnerable to numerous attacks including the generation of sybil entities in the networks. We address this important issue in vehicular crowdsourcing campaigns where sybils are usually employed to increase their influence and worsen the functioning of the system. Lupi e licotoponimi in Sicilia: un confronto interdisciplinare

ABSTRACT. (Wolves and wolf place names in Sicily: an interdisciplinary comparison). Starting from zoological and onomastic aspects, the paper aims at comparing data demonstrating the presence of wolves in Sicily. Apart from the review offered by LA MANTIA & CANNELLA (2008) and the study on Minà Palumbo’s works (GENCHI 2012), further sources prove the presence of wolves in Sicily, in particular in the Madonie area. The integration of these data with those concerning ethno-linguistic and toponymic aspects, even without the support of other scientific works, allows to verify the distribution of this predator in Sicily as well as its presence in Sicilian cultural imagery.
