Insertion Reactions of Neutral Phosphidozirconocene Complexes as a Convenient Entry into Frustrated Lewis Pair Territory
2016
International audience; Neutral phosphidozirconocene complexes [Cp2Zr(PR2)Me] (Cp=cyclopentadienyl; 1a: R=cyclohexyl (Cy); 1b: R=mesityl (Mes); 1c: R=tBu) undergo insertion into the Zr-P bond by non-enolisable carbonyl building blocks (O=CRR), such as benzophenone, aldehydes, paraformaldehyde or CO2, to give [Cp2Zr(OCRRPR2)Me] (3-7). Depending on the steric bulk around P, complexes 3-7 react with B(C6F5)(3) to give O-bridged cationic zirconocene dimers that display typical frustrated Lewis pair (FLP)/ambiphilic ligand behaviour. Thus, the reaction of {[Cp2Zr(-OCHPhPCy2)][MeB(C6F5)(3)]}(2) (10a) with chalcone results in 1,4 addition of the Zr+/P FLP, whereas the reaction of {[Cp2Zr(-OCHFcPCy…
ATTEMPTS TO ISOLATE C'3 ACTIVITY FROM PIG SERUM.
1965
In vitro skin penetration of bronidox, bronopol and formaldehyde from cosmetics
2020
The objective was to evaluate the influence of the formulation in the in vitro transdermal absorption through pig ear skin of three preservatives, bronopol, bronidox and formaldehyde as well as the absorption of formaldehyde from bronopol and dimethyloldimethyl hydantoin (DMDM hydantoin). An aqueous solution, an O/W emulsion and a hydrogel were assayed. Bronidox and bronopol absorption depends on the formulation. The O/W emulsion was the system that least promoted absorption of bronidox while the absorption of bronopol was lower from the hydrogel. The aqueous solution provided maximal transdermal absorption of both preservatives. Moreover, the transdermal absorption of formaldehyde released…
Tungsten-titanium mixed oxide bronzes: Synthesis, characterization and catalytic behavior in methanol transformation
2019
[EN] Tungsten oxide bronze-based materials show extremely adaptive structural and compositional features that make them suitable for functional properties modulation. Herein we report the preparation of a series of Ti-containing tungsten oxide catalysts presenting a hexagonal tungsten bronze-type structure. The insertion of Ti4+ within the structure (likely in the octahedral framework of the hexagonal tungsten bronze) leads to an increase in the number of strong acid sites, and the disappearance of W5+ surface species found in the undoped tungsten oxide. With the aim of studying the acid-redox properties of the titled catalysts, the catalytic transformation of methanol has been carried out …
Alkoxy-, Acyloxy-, and Bromomethylation of Resorcinarenes
2004
Reaction of resorcinarene octols with tris-hydroxymethylmethylamine (TRIS), formaldehyde, and alcohols results in tetraalkoxymethylation of the resorcinol rings. Harsh acylation of aminomethylated resorcinarenes with acid anhydrides leads to the complete acylation of eight hydroxyls and substitution of the amino versus acyloxy groups. Acyloxymethylated resorcinarene 6b can be transformed into a tetrabromomethylated derivative 7 through the reaction with HBr in acetic acid.
Anti-inflammatory Function of High-Density Lipoproteins via Autophagy of IκB Kinase
2015
Background & Aims: Plasma levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol are frequently found decreased in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Therefore, and because HDL exerts anti-inflammatory activities, we investigated whether HDL and its major protein component apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I) modulate mucosal inflammatory responses in vitro and in vivo. Methods: The human intestinal epithelial cell line T84 was used as the in vitro model for measuring the effects of HDL on the expression and secretion of tumor necrosis factor (TNF), interleukin-8 (IL-8), and intracellular adhesion molecule (ICAM). Nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB)-responsive promoter activity was studied by …
Chromogenic Detection of Aqueous Formaldehyde Using Functionalized Silica Nanoparticles
2016
Silica nanoparticles functionalized with thiol reactive units and bulky polar polyamines were used for the selective colorimetric detection of formaldehyde. The reaction of thiols groups in the nanoparticles surface with a squaraine dye resulted in loss of the pi-conjugation of the chromophores, and the subsequent bleaching of the solution. However, when formaldehyde was present in the suspension, the thiol-squaraine reaction was inhibited and a chromogenic response was observed. A selective response to formaldehyde was observed only when the thiol and polyamine groups were anchored to the silica surface. The observed selective response was ascribed to the fact that bulky polyamines generat…
Selective derivatisation of resorcarenes: 1. The regioselective formation of tetra-benzoxazine derivatives
1997
Abstract Four 5,6-benzo-1,3-oxazine rings are formed by the condensation of resorcarenes with various aliphatic or aromatic primary amines and formaldehyde. From four possible regioisomers only the C4 symmetrical compound is isolated in yields of up to 90%. Semiempirical calculations confirm its relative stability, which is due to the possible formation of four intramolecular OH…O hydrogen bonds. The regioselectivity of the reaction is further established for two examples by single crystal X-ray analysis. A solvent molecule is included in the extended cavity.
Maximum exposure levels for xylene, formaldehyde and acetaldehyde in cars.
2004
Although millions of individuals are exposed to emissions from articles inside cars, relatively little has been published about possible adverse health effects and about exposure levels that can be considered safe or "acceptable". Xylene, formaldehyde and acetaldehyde represent typical examples of relevant volatile organic substances (VOC) released from articles inside cars. Recently, a concept for derivation of maximum exposure levels for volatile organic substances in cars has been published. In the present study we applied this concept to derive maximum exposure levels for xylene, formaldehyde and acetaldehyde and compared the resulting concentrations to exposure levels usually found ins…
Method for determination of formaldehyde in air in the pptv-range by HPLC after extraction as 2,4-dinitrophenyl-hydrazone
1982
The derivatization of formaldehyde with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine and the extraction of the product formalhydrazone is studied. The determination is carried out by HPLC. Applying a cryogenic sampling technique and a sampling volume of 300l of air the detection limit of formaldehyde in air is 30 pptv and this is suitable for measurements of formaldehyde in the atmosphere.
