How do people understand belonging and what kinds of stances toward belonging do they take? What kind of knowledge or ways of knowing (EISNER, 2008) does artistic practice yield about belonging? We ask these questions in this article, which is based on the research project Crossing Borders, in which we used participatory arts-based methods to study belonging. We invited participants to explore the notion of belonging in three parallel workshops drawing on different art forms, film, writing and visual arts. Significance The variability of the Asian summer monsoon (ASM) is important for the functioning of ecological and societal systems at regional to continental scales, but the long-term evolution and interannual variability of this system is not well understood. Here, we present a stable isotope–based reconstruction of ASM variability covering 4680 BCE to 2011 CE. Superimposed on a gradual drying trend, a rapid drop in mean annual precipitation (>40%) toward persistently drier conditions occurred in ∼1675 BCE. Forster's distinction between round and flat characters in order to study the balancing between genre characters and realistic characters Tarantino's first film effects. Hypothalamic GnRH (gonadotropin-releasing hormone) neurons play a critical role in the initiation and maintenance of reproduction competence. Using the mouse GnRH neuronal cell line, GT1-7, we have characterized the expression of the gene mPer1, a recognized key element of the mammalian circadian clockwork. Both mPer1 transcripts and the 136 kDa mPER1 gene product could be detected in these cells. Immunocytochemical analysis also confirmed expression of mPER1 both in vitro and in vivo in GnRH neurons. Normalizēto slāpekļa un fosfora savienojumu upju slodžu izvērtējums no 2000.-2011.gadam Latvijā

Pētījumā analizētas slāpekļa un fosfora un to savienojumu slodzes, izmantojot četras dažādas aprēķinu metodes – divas faktiskās un divas normalizēto upju slodžu aprēķinu metodes. Rezultātā noteikts, ka aprēķinu rezultāti var atšķirties, turklāt atsevišķos gadījumos starp rezultātiem sasniedzot vairāk nekā 50% starpību, tomēr metodes ir savstarpēji salīdzināmas. Modelējot normalizētās upju slodzes kā, galvenais, mainīgais laikā ir upes caurplūdums un, veicot slodžu modelēšanu, iegūtie rezultāti liecina, ka normalizēto slodžu aprēķini lielākoties pie maziem upes caurplūdumiem dod ievērojami lielākas upju slodzes, bet pie augstākiem upes caurplūdumiem – ievērojami zemākas. Tutkielman tarkoituksena oli saada selville, mitä vahvistavia sanoja ja etuliitteitä suomenruotsalaiset nuoret Tampereella käyttävät adjektiivien ja adverbien kanssa. Lisäksi tavoitteena oli selvittää, millaisia eroja tyttöjen ja poikien välillä on vahvikesanojen käytössä, käyttävätkö he suomenkielisiä vahvikesanoja ja -etuliitteitä ruotsinkielisissä lauseissa, sekä kuinka usein he käyttävät samoja etuliitteitä, joita käytetään Ruotsissa. Tutkimus suoritettiin kyselytutkimuksena. Otosryhmänä oli 30 Tampereen Svenska Samskolanin (SST) oppilasta, joista kymmenen oli kahdeksasluokkalaisia ja 20 kävi lukion ensimmäistä astetta.
