Results from the Fourth WMO Filter Radiometer Comparison for aerosol optical depth measurements

Abstract. This study presents the results of the Fourth Filter Radiometer Comparison that was held in Davos, Switzerland, between 28 September and 16 October 2015. Thirty filter radiometers and spectroradiometers from 12 countries participated including reference instruments from global aerosol networks. The absolute differences of all instruments compared to the reference have been based on the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) criterion defined as follows: 95% of the measured data has to be within 0.005 ± 0.001∕m (where m is the air mass). A new neuraminic acid derivative and three types of glycopeptides isolated from the Cuvierian tubules of the sea cucumber Holothuria forskali

The Cuvierian tubules of Holothuria forskali Della Chiaje, a sea cucumber found in the Adriatic Sea, were investigated with regard to their carbohydrate moieties. From a Pronase digest of these tubules three types of carbohydrate units were isolated and characterized. 1. A high-molecular-weight glycopeptide fraction was shown to contain sulphated polyfucose, galactosamine, a uronic acid and a previously unknown neuraminic acid derivative. The sulphate was shown by i.r. analysis to be present as an O-ester. The carbohydrate unit was linked O-glycosidically to threonine and serine residues in the polypeptide chain. Varieties of agencies during working life changes

The aim of this study is to shed light on the varieties of workers´ agencies in working life change situations, which is an under-researched topic in the literature of workplace learning and in working life studies. The research questions are what kinds of agencies there are to be found when workers encounter changes and how the different kinds of agencies are connected together. A cross-country study of skills and unemployment flows

AbstractUsing an international survey that directly assesses the cognitive skills of the adult population, I study the relation between skills and unemployment flows across 37 countries. Depending on the specifically assessed domain, I document that skills have an unconditional correlation with the log-risk-ratio of exiting to entering unemployment of 0.65–0.68 across the advanced and skill-abundant countries in the sample. The relation is remarkably robust and it is unlikely to be due to reverse causality. Bruk av dyr i vitenskapelige eksperimenter : en filosofisk undersøkelse

I dette arbeidet behandles filosofiske og etiske spørsmål som oppstår i forbindelse med bruk av dyr i vitenskapelige eksperimenter. Med vitenskapelige eksperimenter menes eksperimenter innenfor all slags medisinsk og veterinærmessig forskning og innenfor arbeid som tar sikte på å utvikle og prøve medikamenter. Det tenkes altså både på anvendt forskning og på grunnforskning. Forfatteren kommer ikke inn på bruk av dyr i kosmetikkindustrien, i matvareproduksjonen eller i kontrollen av matvarer. Det gås heller ikke inn på bruk av dyr som kjæledyr eller som følgedyr.
