Direct Electricity Production from Linseed Oil

2019

Today’s energy industry is currently facing an increasing demand for electricity. Besides to the use of coal, oil and gas, in recent years renewable energy sources have also are used. One of devices using renewable energy sources is fuel cell (FC). The most commonly used fuel for fuel cells is hydrogen. But, problems with storage of this fuel causes, that the finding new fuels for FCs are very desirable. One of these fuels can be linseed oil. Powering high efficiency power sources (like FCs) with renewable fuels (like linseed oil) will allow development of renewable energy sources and elimination or reduce of toxic substances emissions. The paper presents the research of linseed oil electro…

A Palermo e …

Maailma fossiilitalouden jälkeen

2022

Ilmastonmuutos edellyttää fossiilitaloudesta luopumista. Yhteiskunnan energia- ja materiaperustan muutos vaatii uudenlaisia politiikkakeinoja, rakenteita, toimintatapoja, tuotteita ja hallintamalleja. Ilmastonmuutos johtuu fossiilitaloudesta: öljy- ja maakaasukentiltä ja kivihiilikaivoksista peräisin olevan hiilen pumppaamisesta ilmakehään. Tätä on kiihdyttänyt väestön ja kulutuksen eli talouden kasvu. Jotta ilmastonmuutosta voitaisiin hillitä, fossiilitaloudesta täytyy luopua. Muutos on valtava, kun yhteiskunnan koko metabolinen perusta muuttuu. Meistä kaukana ja näkymättömissä olevista fossiilienergian lähteistä siirrytään meidän keskellämme oleviin energialähteisiin: tuuleen, veteen, aur…

Are fossils enough? Palaeontological tourism based on local dinosaur discoveries

2020

Fossils of dinosaurs and other tetrapods have long aroused interest of scientists and the public opinion alike. Every finding of a new (especially large) species receives coverage in national and international media, and thus, local fossil discoveries might constitute a good basis for local tourism development. The paper aims to examine whether fossiliferous sites on their own may be enough for the development of palaeontological tourism to occur, or do they require the support of additional amusement infrastructure. For this purpose, the interest in chosen localities was analysed using Google and Wikipedia searches, and was further discussed against a survey on dinoparks and their elements…

2003

We expose the preliminary results of the archaeological excavations developed between 2000-2002 in Sidron's Cave, according to the three main objectives that concern the human fossil record: the anthropological characteristics, how and when they arrived there and the relation between fossils and culture. We conclude preliminarily that the record belongs to Horno Neanderthalensis, archeological remains to the Middle Paleolithic techno-complex, and they are in a secondary position.

Musteloidea (Carnivora, Mammalia) del Mioceno Superior de Venta del Moro (Valencia, España)

2011

The purpose of the present work is to describe the Musteloidea from the Late Miocene locality of Venta del Moro (Valencia, Spain). We have identified the following species: Martes ginsburgi nov. sp., Lutra affinis Gervais, 1859, Plesiogulo monspessulanus Viret, 1939 and Promephitis alexejewi Schlosser, 1924. Besides Plesiogulo monspessulanus which was already described in this locality and in Las Casiones (MN 13, Teruel Basin), we are approaching an unedited Musteloidea assemblage from the Miocene of the Iberian Peninsula. The m1 of Martes ginsburgi nov. sp. is similar in size and morphology to the Asian species of the genus, M. anderssoni and M. zdanskyi, but it differs in having a very wi…

Reconstruction of the Holocene palaeoenvironmental conditions accordingly to the multiproxy sedimentary records from Lake Pilvelis, Latvia

2015

Abstract Reconstruction of the Holocene palaeoenvironment conditions in Southeastern Latvia is based on multiproxy records from Lake Pilvelis: pollen, plant macrofossil and microfossil analysis; loss-on-ignition (LOI) measurements; 14 C dating; humic substances content; humification index; and elemental composition of gyttja organic mass. The data complex obtained in the result of multiproxy studies of sediments in Lake Pilvelis indicates significant changes in the depositional environment during the lake development. Data from Lake Pilvelis show that the start of organic-rich sediments formation before approximately 9750 cal BP, when birch–pine forest dominated in the surrounding landscape…
