In this paper I will reflect on the role of photographs in the works of Daša Drndić. Mixing fictional and documentary modes is a characteristic feature of her texts. It is achieved among others by utilizing visual representations of the past. In my paper I aim to outline the strategies of visualization applied by the authoress (especially the traumatic, Holocaust-related experience), which materialize through photographs included in her works of literature. In the case of Drndić the visuals include for instance contemporary or archival photographs of places marked by the Holocaust and of Jewish inhabitants of Vienna as well as portraits of war criminals. Science communication in online media is a discursive domain where science-related content is often expressed through styles characteristic of popular journalism. This article aims to characterize some dominant stylistic patterns in magazine articles devoted to environmental issues by identifying the devices used to enhance newsworthiness, given the fact that for some readers environmental topics may no longer seem engaging. The analytic perspective is an adaptation of the newsworthiness framework that has been applied in news discourse studies. El artículo analiza el rol de las fotografías que acompañan a las publicaciones sobre la represión chilena desde los meses posteriores al golpe del 73 hasta la actualidad. Su indagación se basa en una hipótesis metodológica: analizar cómo esas publicaciones usaban las fotografías que integraban en su seno nos permitirá comprender mejor la naturaleza misma de esas publicaciones y, por tanto, el rol que se propusieron desempeñar en cada momento
