Background: Dentin hypersensitivity (DH) in one of the most common causes of patient discomfort in the general population and its prevalence is higher in patients who have received basic or surgical periodontal treatment. Efficiency of the diode laser with different wavelengths has been studied by several authors, showing an improvement rate of the DH between 60-98%. Pseudocholinesterase Activity in Organophosphate Poisoning after Storage of Unseparated Blood Samples at Room Temperature for 3 Weeks

Suppressed pseudocholinesterase activity is a well-established laboratory finding in patients with serious organophosphate poisoning (1). Recently, a 48-year-old man with suspected ingestion of methyl parathion died, and the postmortem examination was not indicative. After 3 weeks, an overlooked specimen was discovered that had been collected from the patient ∼1 h after the suspected poisoning. The determination of pseudocholinesterase activity was requested. Through the increased use of less expensive and counterfeit medicines, the contamination of parenteral fluids and drugs by particulate matter poses an increasing health hazard worldwide. However, the mechanism of action of such contamination has never been conclusively demonstrated. We have systemically injected the particles contained in three different 1-g preparations of the antibiotic cefotaxime into hamsters and visualized the functional capillary density in striated skin muscle, using intravital fluorescence microscopy. Darbā izanalizēti savvaļas pīlādžu ogu paraugi no 4 dažādām Latvijas vietām (Rīga, Lielvārde, Engure, Gulbene), pa vienam pīlādžu paraugam no Vācijas un Polijas, kā arī šķirnes pīlādži „Granatnaja” un „Alaja Krupnaja”. Veicot ogu paraugu sauso minerlizāciju tika noteikts kālija, dzelzs, kalcija, magnija, vara un dzelzs saturs. Veikta iegūto rezultātu statistiskā apstrāde.

State Preparation and Tomography of a Nanomechanical Resonator with Fast Light Pulses

2018

Pulsed optomechanical measurements enable squeezing, non-classical state creation and backaction-free sensing. We demonstrate pulsed measurement of a cryogenic nanomechanical resonator with record precision close to the quantum regime. We use these to prepare thermally squeezed and purified conditional mechanical states, and to perform full state tomography. These demonstrations exploit large photon-phonon coupling in a nanophotonic cavity to reach a single-pulse imprecision of 9 times the mechanical zero-point amplitude $x_\mathrm{zpf}$.
