Rotational bands in99Sr

The β-decay of 59 ms99Rb has been studied at OSTIS. As is confirmed by RPA calculations with Nilsson model wave functions, the lowest energy levels in99Sr are consistent with rotational bands built on the [411 3/2], [413 5/2] and [422 3/2] Nilsson neutron configurations at 0, 423 and 1071 keV, respectively. All three bands have similar values of the inertial parameter ħ2/2θ indicating a nearly rigid rotor.
Wave functions of composite hadron states and relationship to couplings of scattering amplitudes for general partial waves

In this paper we present the connection between scattering amplitudes in momentum space and wave functions in coordinate space, generalizing previous work done for $s$-waves to any partial wave. The relationship to the wave function of the residues of the scattering amplitudes at the pole of bound states or resonances is investigated in detail. A sum rule obtained for the couplings provides a generalization to coupled channels, any partial wave and bound or resonance states, of Weinberg's compositeness condition, which was only valid for weakly bound states in one channel and $s$-wave. Measurement of the branching fraction andΛ¯polarization inB0→Λ¯pπ−

We present a measurement of the B0 --> Lambda-bar p pi- branching fraction performed using the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric e+e- collider. Based on a sample of 467 million BB-bar pairs we measure B(B0 --> Lambda-bar p pi-) = [3.07 pm 0.31 (stat.) pm 0.23 (syst.)] x 10^{-6}. The measured differential spectrum as a function of the dibaryon invariant mass m(Lambda p) shows a near-threshold enhancement similar to that observed in other baryonic B decays. We study the Lambda-bar polarization as a function of Lambda-bar energy in the B0 rest frame (E*_Lambda) and compare it with theoretical expectations of fully longitudinally right-polarized Lambda-bar at large E*_Lambda.
A realistic model of neutrino masses with a large neutrinoless double beta decay rate

The minimal Standard Model extension with the Weinberg operator does accommodate the observed neutrino masses and mixing, but predicts a neutrinoless double beta ($0\nu\beta\beta$) decay rate proportional to the effective electron neutrino mass, which can be then arbitrarily small within present experimental limits. However, in general $0\nu\beta\beta$ decay can have an independent origin and be near its present experimental bound; whereas neutrino masses are generated radiatively, contributing negligibly to $0\nu\beta\beta$ decay. The formalism for the Dirac-Brueckner approach to the nuclear many-body problem is described including its basis in relativistic two-nucleon scattering. A family of relativistic meson-exchange potentials is constructed which (apart from the usual coupling terms for heavy mesons) apply the pseudovector (gradient) coupling for the interaction of pseudoscalar mesons (\ensuremath{\pi},\ensuremath{\eta}) with nucleons. These potentials describe low-energy two-nucleon scattering and the deuteron data accurately. Measurement ofB(B→Xsγ), theB→Xsγphoton energy spectrum, and the directCPasymmetry inB→Xs+dγdecays

The photon spectrum in B → X_sγ decay, where X_s is any strange hadronic state, is studied using a data sample of (382.8±4.2) × 10^6 e^+e^- → Υ(4S) → BB events collected by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II collider. The spectrum is used to measure the branching fraction B(B → X_sγ)=(3.21±0.15±0.29±0.08) × 10^(-4) and the first, second, and third moments ⟨E_γ⟩=2.267±0.019±0.032±0.003 GeV, ⟨(E_γ-⟨E_γ⟩)^2⟩=0.0484±0.0053±0.0077±0.0005 GeV^2, and ⟨(E_γ-⟨E_γ⟩)^3⟩=-0.0048±0.0011±0.0011±0.0004 GeV^3, for the range E_γ > 1.8 GeV, where E_γ is the photon energy in the B-meson rest frame. Critical review of [K- ppn] bound states

We make a thorough study of the process of three body kaon absorption in nuclei, in connection with a recent FINUDA experiment which claims the existence of a deeply bound kaonic state from the observation of a peak in the Lambda d invariant mass distribution following K- absorption on Li6. We show that the peak is naturally explained in terms of K- absorption from three nucleons leaving the rest as spectators. We can also reproduce all the other observables measured in the same experiment and used to support the hypothesis of the deeply bound kaon state. Strategy to find the two $\Lambda(1405)$ states from lattice QCD simulations

Theoretical studies within the chiral unitary approach, and recent experiments, have provided evidence of the existence of two isoscalar states in the region of the $\Lambda(1405)$. In this paper we use the same chiral approach to generate energy levels in a finite box. In a second step, assuming that these energies correspond to lattice QCD results, we devise the best strategy of analysis to obtain the two states in the infinite volume case, with sufficient precision to distinguish them. We find out that using energy levels obtained with asymmetric boxes and/or with a moving frame, with reasonable errors in the energies, one has a successful scheme to get the two $\Lambda(1405)$ poles.
Transparency ratio in γA→η′A′ and the in-medium η′ width

Abstract The photoproduction of η ′ -mesons off different nuclei has been measured with the CBELSA/TAPS detector system for incident photon energies between 1500–2200 MeV. The transparency ratio has been deduced and compared to theoretical calculations describing the propagation of η ′ -mesons in nuclei. The comparison indicates a width of the η ′ -meson of the order of Γ = 15 – 25 MeV at ρ = ρ 0 for an average momentum p η ′ = 1050 MeV / c , at which the η ′ -meson is produced in the nuclear rest frame. The inelastic η ′ N cross section is estimated to be 3–10 mb. Parameterizing the photoproduction cross section of η ′ -mesons by σ ( A ) = σ 0 A α , a value of α = 0.84 ± 0.03 has been dedu…
Complete angular analysis of polarized top quark decay atO(αs)

We calculate the O(alpha_s) radiative corrections to the three spin independent and five spin dependent structure functions that describe the angular decay distribution in the decay of a polarized top quark into a W-boson (followed by the decay W^{+} -> l^{+} + nu_l or by W^{+} -> anti-q + q and a bottom quark. The angular decay distribution is described in cascade fashion, i.e. the decay t(uparrow) -> W^{+} + X_b is analyzed in the top rest system while the subsequent decay W^{+} -> l^{+} + nu_l (or W^{+} -> anti-q + q) is analyzed in the W rest frame.
