Influence of thermally induced structural transformations on the magnetic and luminescence properties of tartrate-based chiral lanthanide organic-fra…

2020

This work reports on the synthesis and characterization of five enantiomeric pairs of isostructural 3D metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with the general formula {[Ln2(μ4-tar)2(μ-tar)(H2O)2]·xH2O}n [where Ln(iii) = Tb (Tb-L and Tb-D), Dy (Dy-L and Dy-D), Ho (Ho-L and Ho-D), Er (Er-L and Er-D) and Tm (Tm-L and Tm-D); tar = tartrate (d- or l-) and x = 3 or 4 depending on the counterpart], which possess interesting luminescence and magnetic properties. These MOFs undergo progressive and reversible dehydration processes upon controlled heating yielding three crystalline phases (Ln-L′, Ln-L′′ and Ln-L′′′). Alternating current magnetic measurements on Tb, Dy and Er-based compounds exhibit field ind…

A SIM-MOF: Three-Dimensional Organisation of Single-Ion Magnets with Anion-Exchange Capabilities

2014

The formation of a metal-organic framework (MOF) with nodes that have single-molecule magnet (SMM) behaviour has been achieved by using mononuclear lanthanoid analogues, also known as single-ion magnets (SIMs), which enormously simplifies the challenging issue of making SMM-MOFs. Here we present a rational design of a family of MOFs, [Ln(bipyNO)4](TfO)3⋅x solvent (Ln=Tb (1); Dy (2); Ho (3); Er (4); TfO=triflate), in which the lanthanoid centres have an square-antiprismatic coordination environment suitable for SIM behaviour. Magnetic measurements confirm the existence of slow magnetic relaxation typical of SMMs, which has been rationalised by means of a radial effective charge model. In add…

Learning outcomes in the field of human resource management in business administration studies in the context of implementation of European Qualifica…

2018

The study carried out in this paper involves the analysis of the content of the competencies in the field of human resource management in order to acquire the key competences of the students that will be aligned with the needs of the labor market according to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). The method of comparative analysis and case study methodology is used in the paper. This research compares teaching courses that include the acquisition of competences in the field of human resource management in business administration studies, one of the key areas of contemporary management, with examples from the Department of Economics and Business Economics of the University of Dubrovn…

The Physical Education curriculum design in Spain: A critical review from the LOGSE to the LOMCE

2016

This paper analyses the curriculum framework of the different Education Acts through democracy in order to identify and compare their most distinctive features; their flexibility and the granted autonomy for schools and teachers, in order to materialise and develop the curriculum, is also dealt with in this contribution. The analysis concludes that the open and flexible curriculum of the first Education Acts in democracy has evolved towards a more closed and prescriptive curriculum, which indirectly leads into an objective-based pedagogy and places the teacher in a technical teaching role. The texts’ analysis confirms this trend in the Physical Education area, in which teachers will meet wi…

Moral Neuroeducation, Ethics of Justice and Pluralism

2019

In order to design a model of moral neuroeducation for pluralistic and democratic societies three core issues need to be addressed in-depth: firstly, the cerebral basis of moral behaviour (neuroethics); secondly, how neuroscientific knowledge can be engaged in the teaching of moral education (moral neuroeducation); and finally, the specific ethical model underpinning this area of education (moral and political philosophy). The last of these three issues is the focus of this chapter, as it is fundamental to the whole project of moral neuroeducation, and it structures the approach to moral neuroeducation proposed in this chapter. Drawing on the conceptual framework of Adela Cortina’s ethics o…

Chapter 14: HPV vaccine introduction in industrialized countries.

2006

Introduction of a vaccine requires the achievement of three initial milestones. These are licensure by a national control authority that determines the vaccine is safe and effective, development of recommendations for use by expert advisory bodies on immunization, and obtaining funding for vaccination. Once these milestones have been achieved, a successful vaccination program requires that a number of interlinked programmatic components be brought together in a coordinated fashion. These include vaccine purchase and supply, vaccination service delivery, high coverage rates, surveillance of the vaccination program, immunization finance policies and practices, and political will. Human papill…

All-cis-1,2,3,4,5,6-cyclohexanehexacarboxylate two-dimensional gadolinium(III) complexes: Synthesis, X-ray crystal structure and magnetic properties

2010

Abstract The first gadolinium(III) complexes with the trideprotonated form of the 1,2,3,4,5,6-cyclohexanehexacarboxylic acid (H3clhex3−) of formulae [Gd(H3clhex)(H2O)4]n·3nH2O (1) and [Gd(H3clhex)(H2O)4]n·6nH2O (2) have been prepared through the gel technique and their structures determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure of 1 is made up of 63 honey-comb layers which are generated by [Gd(H2O)4]3+ cations and H3clhex3− anions acting as three-fold nodes and three-fold connectors, respectively. The structure of 2 consists of a [44,62] two-dimensional network extended in the ac plane where the H3clhex−3 groups act as four-fold connectors and the [Gd(H2O)4]3+ units as four-fol…

Interaction of Language Policy and Assessment in Finland

2008

This paper reviews developments and future challenges in language policy, planning and assessment in Finland, where several important changes in legislation, curricula and assessment systems have recently taken place. Language proficiency requirement of immigrants and civil servants have been redefined, school curricula have been revised and new language examinations have been developed. The Common European Framework has been particularly influential. The paper also explores the tensions caused by changes, such as uncertainties in implementing new curricula in teaching and assessment, and differences between curricula and national examinations. The gate-keeping function of examinations also…

Abstract Syntax as Interlingua: Scaling Up the Grammatical Framework from Controlled Languages to Robust Pipelines

2020

Abstract syntax is an interlingual representation used in compilers. Grammatical Framework (GF) applies the abstract syntax idea to natural languages. The development of GF started in 1998, first as a tool for controlled language implementations, where it has gained an established position in both academic and commercial projects. GF provides grammar resources for over 40 languages, enabling accurate generation and translation, as well as grammar engineering tools and components for mobile and Web applications. On the research side, the focus in the last ten years has been on scaling up GF to wide-coverage language processing. The concept of abstract syntax offers a unified view on many oth…
