Uplink DPCCH Gating of Inactive UEs in Continuous Packet Connectivity Mode for HSUPA

In order to further improve the packet performance in the UMTS FDD system, uplink dedicated physical control channel (DPCCH) gating as a scheme is proposed in 3GPP under the work item "continuous connectivity for packet data users". In this paper, the uplink DPCCH gating concept is described and analyzed on both a qualitative and a quantitative level. And the system performance of different gating patterns used in the scheme was investigated by analytical prediction and system level simulations with different channel profiles. Motivated by the demand for energy efficiency improvement in mobile communication industry, we explore an idea of optimizing energy efficiency for MIMO-OFDM wireless communication systems while maintaining users' quality of service (QoS) requirement. ERP qualification exploiting waveform, spectral and time-frequency infomax

The present contribution briefly introduces an event related potential (ERP) detector. The specified detector includes three kinds of features of ERP. They are the ERP waveform feature, ERP spectral feature and ERP time-frequency feature respectively. According to these characteristics, two parameters are defined to reflect the timing feature of ERP. The mismatch negativity (MMN) is taken as the example to design an exact qualification detector. Instabilities of ion motion in a linear Paul trap

Abstract We have investigated the stability properties of a linear radio frequency ion trap with cylindrical electrodes. Inside the region of stability for an ideal trap we found a number of instabilities similar to those experimentally observed in three-dimensional traps. They arise from higher order contributions to the ideal quadrupole trapping potential. The static potential for axial confinement shifts the radial ion oscillation frequencies and leads to additional instabilities.

Jaynes-Cummings model with atomic position distribution

The position as well as the width of the atomic wave packet passing through an optical cavity may affect the matter-field interaction. As a result, the internal dynamics of a two-level atom, such as the Rabi oscillations or the collapse and revival phenomenon, may be strongly modified with respect to the standard Jaynes-Cummings model. In particular, for a sufficiently large spread of the atomic position, the atomic population inversion displays the characteristic ringing behavior of the Bessel function ${\mathit{J}}_{0}$ differently from the usual full Rabi oscillation.
