The perception of the family functionality: Confirmation of its bifactorial structure

2012

Valid, reliable and …

Immigration, factor endowments and the productive structure of Spanish regions, 1996-2005.

2012

The participation of immigrants in the Spanish labour market has increased from less than 3% in 1996 to more than 13% in 2005. The factor proportion model of production was used to examine the impact of such a large labour supply shock on the industrial structure of Spanish regions. The results confirm that, first, labour endowment differences across regions help to explain the regional patterns of industry specialization. Second, immigrants and natives act as complementary factors in most industries. Third, the importance of immigration is relatively small compared with production technique changes and idiosyncratic industry changes in explaining the overall changes in industrial structure. …

Innovative Analysis of Service-Learning Effects in Physical Education: A Mixed-Methods Approach

2020

Purpose: To compare the development of teaching competency in preservice teachers of physical education (n = 96) through two different modalities of intervention from the same service-learning program. The preservice teachers provided a direct service to children with motor functional diversity, promoting their motor skills and counteracting their lack of social attention. Method: The topic was approached using mixed methods with methodological triangulation. Quantitative evidence was gathered through a quasi-experimental design of two nonequivalent experimental groups implementing the following instrument: the Teaching Competency while performing Motor Skills and Body Language Games Rubric…

Properties and Structural Studies of Multi-Wall Carbon Nanotubes-Phosphate Ester Hybrids

2013

Long chain phosphate esters bearing at least one or two aryl groups have been synthesized and used for the preparation of stable multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) hybrids. The non-covalent interaction ester/MWCNT has been investigated by several techniques (SEM, UV-vis, 31P-NMR, RAMAN). The used phosphate ester derivatives demonstrated the ability to produce an excellent dispersion of MWCNT in CHCl3. The obtained dispersions showed a great stability from one to at least three weeks in the range of concentration considered. Thermal analysis showed an increase in the decomposition temperature for the hybrids with respect to pristine MWCNT.

Functional Linear Regression

2018

This article presents a selected bibliography on functional linear regression (FLR) and highlights the key contributions from both applied and theoretical points of view. It first defines FLR in the case of a scalar response and shows how its modelization can also be extended to the case of a functional response. It then considers two kinds of estimation procedures for this slope parameter: projection-based estimators in which regularization is performed through dimension reduction, such as functional principal component regression, and penalized least squares estimators that take into account a penalized least squares minimization problem. The article proceeds by discussing the main asympt…

[3+2] Cycloaddition reaction of 1H-phosphorinium-3-olate and 1-methylphosphorinium-3-olate with methyl acrylate: A DFT study

2016

Abstract A density functional theory study was performed on the [3+2] cycloaddition (32CA) reaction of 1H-phosphorinium-3-olate and 1-methylphosphorinium-3-olate with methyl acrylate. The thermodynamic and kinetic parameters were analysed by considering the regio- and stereoisomeric pathways in gas phase and solvents. The geometries indicate that the transition states are slightly more advanced and asynchronous in ethanol. Electron localisation function topological analysis of the bonding changes along the most favourable reaction pathway associated with the 32CA reaction of 1H-phosphorinium-3-olate with methyl acrylate indicates that the reaction takes place through a two-stage one-step me…

Glycidyl Tosylate: Polymerization of a “Non‐Polymerizable” Monomer permits Universal Post‐Functionalization of Polyethers

2019

Abstract Glycidyl tosylate appears to be a non‐polymerizable epoxide when nucleophilic initiators are used because of the excellent leaving group properties of the tosylate. However, using the monomer‐activated mechanism, this unusual monomer can be copolymerized with ethylene oxide (EO) and propylene oxide (PO), respectively, yielding copolymers with 7–25 % incorporated tosylate‐moieties. The microstructure of the copolymers was investigated via in situ 1H NMR spectroscopy, and the reactivity ratios of the copolymerizations have been determined. Quantitative nucleophilic substitution of the tosylate‐moiety is demonstrated for several examples. This new structure provides access to a librar…

Effective copolymerization of ethylene with α,ω-alkenols and homopolymerization of α,ω-alkenols catalyzed by aminophenolate zirconium complex

2019

Abstract A zirconium complex of diamine-bis(phenolate) ligand, [(tBu2O2NN’)ZrCl]2(μ-O) where (tBu2O2NN’) = Me2N(CH2)2N(CH2–2-O−-3,5-tBu2-C6H2)2, activated with (iBu)3Al/Ph3CB(C6F5)4, was for the first time used in copolymerization of ethylene with unsaturated alcohols (CH2 = CH(CH2)nCH2OH, where n = 7, 8, 3). The hydroxyl groups of comonomers were protected with R3-xAlClx (where x = 0 or 1, R = iBu, Et). In contrast to the formerly reported catalysts, the activity of this catalyst is much higher in ethylene/alkenols copolymerization than in ethylene homopolymerization and its lifetime is long. Moreover, the copolymers with high polar comonomer contents (up to 16.4 mol%, 52.3 wt%) were produ…

DFT study on complete ethylene decomposition on flat and stepped Pd

2010

Abstract We applied density functional theory (DFT) calculations to study ethylidyne (CCH 3 ) adsorption and decomposition to C and H over flat and stepped Pd surfaces. Our calculations show that ethylidyne is the most stable molecule among all the possible dehydrogenation or decomposition residues of ethylene. We discuss various possible reaction pathways for ethylidyne decomposition and point out that the most probable one is via ethynyl (CCH) species suggested also by experimental observations. Our calculations indicate that the presence of steps modify the potential energy surface by increasing the binding of most of the species, and also lowering the activation barrier for several reac…

Reactive melt blending of functionalized-MW/CNTs with polyolefin

2012

Adding nanotube adding into a polymeric matrix leads to the formulation of nanocomposites with enhanced macroscopical performances, and, moreover, the use of functionalized MW-CNTs leads to the nanocomposite formulation with even better properties. Furthermore, the reactive melt blending can be considered as a powerful processing method, i.e. reasonably simple and ecologically friendly, in order to formulate polymer based nanocomposite with good performance. In this work, the reactive melt blending between an ethylene-acrylic acid co-polymer, bis-oxazoline and functionalized MW-CNTs was performed and the rheological properties of the formulated systems were investigated.
