FUNCTIONAL ASSESSMENT OF OLDER PERSONS: ROLE OF COMPREHENSIVE GERIATRIC ASSESSMENT IN GERIATRIC ONCOLOGY

15-years mortality in asthma-COPD overlap syndrome (ACOS) elderly population
2015
Background: The coexistence of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (Asthma-COPD Overlap Syndrome: ACOS) is increasingly recognized. Data about the prevalence of ACOS in the elderly and its prognostic implications are unknown. Aim: To evaluate the long-term mortality of ACOS in an elderly population. Methods: 1970 subjects, aged >65 yrs, were enrolled in the population-based SA.R.A. Study. ACOS was defined as: not fully reversible airflow limitation + a) history of asthma or b) very positive bronchodilator test (increase in FEV1 ≥15% and ≥400 ml) + atopy + weezing. The prevalence of ACOS and 15-years mortality rates were assessed in 1063 subjects with complete clinical, lung fun…

Safety and efficacy outcomes after intranasal administration of neural stem cells in cerebral palsy : a randomized phase 1/2 controlled trial
2023
Abstract Background Neural stem cells (NSCs) are believed to have the most therapeutic potential for neurological disorders because they can differentiate into various neurons and glial cells. This research evaluated the safety and efficacy of intranasal administration of NSCs in children with cerebral palsy (CP). The functional brain network (FBN) analysis based on electroencephalogram (EEG) and voxel-based morphometry (VBM) analysis based on T1-weighted images were performed to evaluate functional and structural changes in the brain. Methods A total of 25 CP patients aged 3–12 years were randomly assigned to the treatment group (n = 15), which received an intranasal infusion of NSCs loade…
Synthesis and studies of new optimised chelating agents for targeting chemokine receptor CXCR4
2012
The objective of this thesis work was to develop CXCR4-targeted tools to localize and treat cancer at an early stage. In this line, we investigated the synthesis of new target-specific radiopharmaceuticals. The work focused on two main axes, i.e. the chelating agent and the carrier, by using the know-how and the expertise of our group in polyazacycloalkanes synthesis and functionalization. In the first part, we were interested in developing new macrocyclic scaffolds of high potential for copper and gallium chelation. We first focused on the development of a new powerful route towards selectively functionalized constrained homocyclens. The second part was based on C-functionalized 1,4,7-tria…
Modeling red coral (Corallium rubrum) and African snail (Helixia aspersa) shell pigments: Raman spectroscopyversusDFT studies
2016
Pigments from red coral (Corallium rubrum) and African snail (Helixia aspersa) shell were studied non-invasively using Raman spectroscopy with 1064-nm laser beam. The two observed bands because of organic pigments confined in biomineralized CaCO3 matrix at about 1500 and 1100 cm−1 were assigned to ν(CC) and ν(C―C), respectively. Both signals originate from polyene(s) of largely unknown structure, containing several conjugated CC bonds. The small peak at 1016 cm−1 in the Raman spectrum of coral pigment was assigned to in-plane ―CH3 rocking or structural deformation of polyene chain because of spatial confinement in the mineral matrix. The organic pigments in red coral and snail shell were pr…
Uniqueness and reconstruction for the fractional Calder\'on problem with a single measurement
2020
We show global uniqueness in the fractional Calder\'on problem with a single measurement and with data on arbitrary, possibly disjoint subsets of the exterior. The previous work \cite{GhoshSaloUhlmann} considered the case of infinitely many measurements. The method is again based on the strong uniqueness properties for the fractional equation, this time combined with a unique continuation principle from sets of measure zero. We also give a constructive procedure for determining an unknown potential from a single exterior measurement, based on constructive versions of the unique continuation result that involve different regularization schemes.
A characterization of Hajłasz–Sobolev and Triebel–Lizorkin spaces via grand Littlewood–Paley functions
2010
Abstract In this paper, we establish the equivalence between the Hajlasz–Sobolev spaces or classical Triebel–Lizorkin spaces and a class of grand Triebel–Lizorkin spaces on Euclidean spaces and also on metric spaces that are both doubling and reverse doubling. In particular, when p ∈ ( n / ( n + 1 ) , ∞ ) , we give a new characterization of the Hajlasz–Sobolev spaces M ˙ 1 , p ( R n ) via a grand Littlewood–Paley function.
Targeting MYCN in Pediatric and Adult Cancers
2021
The deregulation of theMYCfamily of oncogenes, includingc-MYC,MYCNandMYCLoccurs in many types of cancers, and is frequently associated with a poor prognosis. The majority of functional studies have focused onc-MYCdue to its broad expression profile in human cancers. The existence of highly conserved functional domains betweenMYCNandc-MYCsuggests thatMYCNparticipates in similar activities.MYCencodes a basic helix-loop-helix-leucine zipper (bHLH-LZ) transcription factor (TF) whose central oncogenic role in many human cancers makes it a highly desirable therapeutic target. Historically, as a TF, MYC has been regarded as “undruggable”. Thus, recent efforts focus on investigating methods to indi…
Development and in vitro evaluation of new bifunctional 89Zr-chelators based on the 6-amino-1,4-diazepane scaffold for immuno-PET applications
2021
Abstract Introduction Combination of hydroxamate bearing side chains with the 6-amino-1,4-diazepane scaffold provides a promising strategy for fast and stable 89Zr-labeling of antibodies. Following this approach, we hereby present the development, labeling kinetics and in vitro complex stability of three resulting bifunctional chelator derivatives both stand-alone and coupled to a model protein in comparison to different linear deferoxamine (DFO) derivatives. Methods The novel 89Zr-chelator Hy3ADA5 was prepared via amide-coupling of separately synthesized 6-amino-1,4-diazepane-6-pentanoic acid and hydroxamate-containing side chains. Two further bifunctional derivatives were synthesized by e…
