Early biological factors and outcome in very preterm infants
2013
Our aim was to identify early biochemical abnormalities associated with adverse outcome in very preterm infants. Based on an 8-year population-study for assessing the outcome in 1067 very preterm babies admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit of Dijon university hospital, two research axes were explored: 1) the impact of plasma chloride abnormalities on neurological morbidities; 2) the association between hypoproteinemia on the first day of life (D1) and adverse outcome. These issues were assessed by 4 studies, performed on the initial population and on 3 other cohorts. We found that hyperchloremia results in severe metabolic acidosis during the first 7-10 days of life, but this is not …
Facteurs épidémiologiques influençant la survie dans le lymphome à cellules du manteau
2017
Mantle Cell Lymphoma (MCL) is a recently defined entity, typically characterised by the genetic translocation t(11 ;14)(q13 ;q32) and counting for 2 - 10% of all non-Hodgkin Lymphomas. With a median survival between 3 and 5 years after diagnosis, MCL is an agressive disease and despite the recent therapeutic advances little in know about its prognostic factors. Some studies had investigated clinicopathological features and new treatment strategies, but there is a lack of knowledge regarding the impact of lifestyle and environnemental factors on outcome of MCL patients. From 2008 to 2012, the LYSA Group conducted in France two prospective multi center clinical trials on MCL : LM manteau 2010…
Cropping system dynamics, climate variability, and seed losses among East African smallholder farmers: a retrospective survey.
2014
Abstract Climate variability directly affects traditional low input and rain-fed farming systems, but few studies have paid attention retrospectively to the cropping system’s ability to mitigate climate risk. This study analyzes the impacts of rainfall variability on farmers’ seed variety losses over time, considering changes in smallholder farming systems. The cropping system dynamics, in favoring maize at the expense of sorghum and pearl millet, have induced an increasing risk of seed loss during drought. Combining ecological anthropology and climatology, a retrospective survey asking farmers about the period 1961–2006 was carried out at three altitudinal levels (750, 950, and 1100 m) on …

Rapport de stage de Master 2 Spécialité Biologie Intégrative des Interactions Plantes, Microbes, Environnement BAP GEAPSI; Master; Climatic changes since more than a century combined with the urge for better crop yields due to a huge demographic growth and coupled with the need for a more sustainable agriculture led to a number of stresses for plants. Understanding them and their effect on growth, seed quality and seed production of plants is one of the most important agronomical issues of our time. We have chosen to study legumes because they are a major lipid and protein source, as both food and feed, and for their unique ability to absorb the atmospheric nitrogen via a symbiosis with Rhi…
