Factorial analysis and psychometric properties of the revised Valencia scale of attitudes and beliefs towards hypnosis-client version

2007

Psychometric properties and factorial structure of the Revised Valencia Scale of Attitudes and Beliefs toward Hypnosis – Client Version using a Portuguese sample are presented. Exploratory factor analysis on a Portuguese population of undergraduate college students (N = 444) yielded 8 factors: ‘Interest/Liking’, ‘Memory/Magic’, ‘Help’, ‘Control’, ‘Cooperation’, ‘Marginal’, ‘Fear’ and ‘Automaton’. The overall 8-factor structure is similar to the one found in the therapist version of the scale, and as in the therapist version, each factor of the client version showed good internal consistency and reliability. Differences among participants that had and had not experienced hypnosis previously …

VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY OF THE FLOURISHING SCALE: LATVIAN VERSION

2021

The objective of this study was to assess the psychometric properties of the Latvian version of the Flourishing Scale (FS), created by Diener et al. (2010). FS is a brief self-report measure of the respondent’s well-being and success in areas of relationships, self-esteem, purpose, and optimism. The scale provides a single score across 8 items. The original FS was translated to Latvian and then back to English. The Satisfaction with Life Scale and Meaning in Life Questionnaire was applied for testing the convergent validity of the FS. Participants of the study were 191 people, ranged in age from 19 to 68 (159 women, mean age M = 30.62, SD = 9.50). Reliability analysis, exploratory and confi…

Scaled factorial moments and split-bin correlation functions. A thermodynamic model comparison

1991

Abstract We compare the scaled factorial moments to the recently proposed split-bin correlation functions, using the thermodynamic model for heavy ion collisions that was recently demonstrated to exhibit power-law growth of the scaled factorial moments as a function of bin size. We find that the split-bin correlation functions are superior for experimental use, as they are intensitive to fictitious correlations due to limited resolving power. In addition, after correction for non-flat single-particle distributions, the split-bin correlation functions provide an unambiguous signal for correlations. As a result, they may provide more powerful evidence for new phenomena like fractal structure …

A Confirmatory Factor Analysis of the “Autoconcepto Forma 5” Questionnaire in Young Adults from Spain and Chile

2011

The aim of this work is to examine the pentafactorial validity of the AF5 Self-Concept Questionnaire in Spanish and Chilean young adults. From the responses of a total of 4,383 young adults aged 17 to 22 years (1,918 Spanish, 44%, and 2,465 Chilean, 56%) it was analyzed the reliability of the instrument, the compared validity of the 5 oblique factor model proposed by the authors versus the unifactorial and the orthogonal alternative models, and was studied the invariance of one Chilean sample. The results of confirmatory factor analyses supported the authors' pentafactorial model. The multi-group factorial invariance showed that Chilean sample of the AF5 does not change neither the Spanish …

Factorial Design in the Ammonia Based Synthesis of Large Uniform MFI, MEL, DOH, and DOH/DDR Type Zeolite Crystals

1989

This study reports the synthesis of large and uniform crystals of high-silica zeolite materials. Statistic factorial design was applied in order to determine significant parameters for the rapid growth of alkali-free crystals out of ammonia-based synthesis systems. For silicalite-I, high ammonia contents at low water concentrations yielded crystals up to 300 μm in size. The number of crystal nuclei in type MFI synthesis systems was found to be significantly reduced by increasing ammonia and aluminium contents. MEL-type zeolites could be prepared only with the smaller size of 15 μm. Low water concentrations improved the product yield. Aminoadamantane as a guest molecule nucleated highly unif…

Self-perception about emerging digital skills in higher education students

2020

Factorial Invariance of the Scale Beliefs About Children’s Adjustment in Same-Sex Families in Spanish, Chilean, and Hispanic University Students

2017

This study examines the factorial invariance of the Scale on Beliefs About Children’s Adjustment in Same-Sex Families (SBCASSF) across countries in three samples: Chilean, Spanish, and Hispanic university students. The scale analyzes attitudes toward the consequences of the rearing and education of children by parents with a homosexual sexual orientation. The instrument consists of two subscales: Individual Opposition and Normative Opposition. The Spanish sample is composed of 199 university students, the Chilean sample is made up of 279 students, and the Hispanic sample consists of 114 students. The results provide empirical evidence for the reliability of the SBCASSF in the samples from …

Factor analysis of the Spanish Burnout Inventory among public administration employees

2014

Burnout has been recognized as an important stress-related problem. Researchers have been troubled by some of the psychometric limitations of the questionnaires developed to evaluate burnout. This study was designed to assess the factor structure of the Spanish Burnout Inventory in a sample of 548 Brazilian public administration employees. This instrument comprises 20 items distributed in four dimensions: enthusiasm toward the job (5 items), psychological exhaustion (4 items), indolence (6 items), and guilt (5 items). The factor structure was examined through confirmatory factor analysis. To assess the factorial validity of the Spanish Burnout Inventory, four alternative models were tested.…

The effect of light curing units and modes on cytotoxicity of resin-core systems

2010

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the cytotoxic effects of various resin-based core materials that were cured with three light curing units (LCUs) in different modes on L?929 mouse fibroblast cells over 24 h and 72 h periods. Study design: Eighty-four cylindrical discs (2 mm in thickness and 6 mm in diameter) of each material (Rebilda, Voco; Build-It FR, Pentron; Clearfil DC Core, Kuraray and Bis-core, Bisco) were cured by QTH LCU (soft-up and high-power modes), LED LCU (exponential and standard modes) and PAC LCU (normal and ramp-curing modes). Then the samples were aged for 24 and 72 hours in Dulbecco?s Modified Eagle Medium/Ham?s F12 (DMEM/F12). After each ageing interval, …
