2021
Abstract Background There is now great interest in using digital health tools to monitor patients' health status in real-world practice. Such tools often include electronic-patient-reported outcome (ePRO) systems in which symptoms questions are included into online interfaces for patient self-reporting, with real-time alerts triggered to the treating physician if severe symptoms or problems are reported. However, there is little information about the clinical utility and user perceptions of these systems, and this is particularly true in the area of hematology. Objectives This study investigates physicians' perceptions of usability and clinical utility of using remote ePROs in routine pract…
Pre-post school educational intervention assessment on HPV vaccination attitudes and willingness
2020
Abstract Background In Italy, vaccination coverage against human Papilloma Virus (HPV) showed a decreasing trend during last years. Different reasons could lead to a decrease in HPV vaccination confidence, such as not taking part to school seminars on HPV infection and vaccination. Methods Two anonymous pre-post intervention questionnaires made up of 25 and 8 items, respectively, were administered to a representative sample of students attending secondary schools of Palermo, Italy. Barriers in access to cancer treatment in Europe: a systematic review of the European Literature

The objective of the systematic review was to identify barriers in access to cancer treatment in Europe (inter-country) and within 6 European countries (intra-country): Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, Bulgaria, UK. Methods To obtain data scientific (PubMed, CINAHL, Embase) and grey l…
Inflated citations and metrics of journals discontinued from Scopus for publication concerns: the GhoS(t)copus Project
2020
AbstractBackgroundScopus is a leading bibliometric database. It contains the largest number of articles cited in peer-reviewed publications. The journals included in Scopus are periodically re-evaluated to ensure they meet indexing criteria and some journals might be discontinued for publication concerns. These journals remain indexed and can be cited. Their metrics have yet to be studied. This study aimed to evaluate the main features and metrics of journals discontinued from Scopus for publication concerns, before and after their discontinuation, and to determine the extent of predatory journals among the discontinued journals.MethodsWe surveyed the list of discontinued journals from Scop…
