Aminoquinolines: Fluorescent sensors to DNA – A minor groove probe. Experimental and in silico studies

An aminoquinoline (AQ4) was developed and proven to be a new and efficient DNA minor groove fluorescent probe. The specificity for DNA minor groove was attested by comparing it with well-established DNA probes such as Hoechst stain, acridine orange, and ethidium bromide. AQ4 was similar to the Hoechst stain, a classic minor groove probe, and opposite to acridine orange and ethidium bromide, the typical intercalating probes. An advantage of AQ4 to the Hoechst stain was the higher fluorescent signal-to-noise ratio (+DNA/-DNA). The interaction with DNA leads to an exclusive fluorescent band centered at 590 nm. Thermo-responsive hydrogels from cellulose-based polyelectrolytes and catanionic vesicles for biomedical application.

In this study, negatively charged catanionic vesicles/hydrophobically modified hydroxyethylcellulose polymers thermo-responsive hydrogels have been fabricated. Vesicular aggregates were found to act as multifunctional junctions for networking of modified-cellulose water solutions. The contributions of the electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions were evaluated by changing either vesicles composition or the polymer hydrophobic substitution. Thermal-induced size and lamellarity of hydrogel-enclosed vesicles were detected, with further polygonal shape changes induced by cellulose-based polymer addition. Osteoporoze ir skeleta slimība, kura pasaulē kļūst aizvien izplatītāka. Tai ir raksturīgs samazināts kaulu blīvums un palielināts kaula lūzumu risks. Darba mērķis ir noskaidrot osteoporozes recepšu medikamentu un recepšu D vitamīna preparātu apriti „Latvijas aptiekā – 16”, kā arī ar anketas palīdzību noskaidrot Skrundas ģimenes ārstu viedokli par osteoporozi un tās ārstēšanu. Ar anketēšanas palīdzību tika noskaidrots, ka Skrundā osteoporozes slimnieku nav daudz. Skrundas ģimenes ārsti saviem pacientiem visbiežāk izraksta lietošanai bifosfonātus. Darba ietvaros tika apkopotas 84 kompensējamās receptes, kurās visvairāk osteoporozes medikamenti bija izrakstīti 80 – 84 gadu veciem cilvēkiem. Vi…

Šobrīd, līdz ar COVID-19 pandēmiju, aktuāla ir depresijas tematika, tiek novērota iedzīvotāju garīgās veselības pasliktināšanās, pandēmijas ierobežojumu dēļ. Bakalaura darba mērķis bija noskaidrot iedzīvotāju informētību par depresiju kā tādu, tās ārstēšanas metodēm un sekām. Tika izmantota kvalitatīva pētniecības metode – anketēšana. Tika noskaidrots, ka Latvijas iedzīvotāju informētība par depresiju, tās ārstēšanas metodēm un sekām, ir vidēja, un, to vajadzētu uzlabot, lai tādējādi mazinātos ar depresiju asociētie aizspriedumi un cilvēki, kas izjūt depresijas simptomus, vērstos pēc palīdzības.

Synthesis of [1,2]oxazolo[5,4-e]indazoles as antitumour agents

Abstract A series of 40 derivatives of the [1,2]oxazolo[5,4-e]indazoles ring system have been prepared with good yields using a versatile and convenient route. Annelation of the [1,2]oxazole ring on the indazole-4-one system was achieved by reaction of the corresponding enaminoketones with hydroxylamine hydrochloride. Derivatives of the title ring system were tested by the National Cancer Institute of Bethesda and one of them (13t) showed growth-inhibitor activity against all the 54 human tumour cell lines generally at low micromolar concentrations.

Pyrano[2,3-e]isoindol-2-ones, new angelicin heteroanalogues

A convenient synthesis of the pyrano[2,3-e]isoindol-2-one ring system, an heteroanalogue of angelicin, is reported. Our synthetic approach consists of the annelation of the pyran ring on the isoindole moiety using 5-dialkylamino- or 5-hydroxymethylene intermediates as building blocks. The photoantiproliferative activity of the new derivatives was studied. Some of them bearing the benzyl group at the 8 position were active with IC(50) in the micromolar range. Cell cytotoxicity involves apoptosis, alteration of cell cycle profile and membrane photodamage.
